Summary

Eternal Fury 2 is a unique blend of two gaming genres: RPG and RTS. It tries to cater to both parts equally and though it delivers a fun experience, it doesn’t exceed expectations. Regardless, it’s one of the best-looking games on mobile thanks to its outstanding presentation elements and interesting art style. Its two-pronged approach to gameplay makes the experience comparatively unique if compared to its peers, even if it borrows a lot of elements from other games.

So, should Eternal Fury 2 be part of your backlog? Let’s check out what it has to offer:

Plotline

The plot centers around your character, who follows the trope of a hero woke up in the middle of nowhere, pursued by enemies who are dead-set on putting him or her six feet under the ground. After which, you’re guided by your companions who then accompany you on your journey, both in managing your base and in exploring various dungeons where you’ll end up fighting countless enemies. There’s a great deal of buildup to the main story, as the game has many subplots you’ll have to go through.

Gameplay

In the character creation phase, there are three classes to choose from: Archer, Knight, and Mage. Though you can’t customize their appearance, the classes aren’t gender-locked. Note that whichever class you choose won’t affect the overall story and dialogue. However, it does impact your overall stats, playstyle, and capabilities since different classes have a unique approach to battle.

In Eternal Fury 2, you’ll mostly enjoy traversing through the game’s dungeons which are basically stages where you’ll end up fighting monsters. Of course, you’ll need to go through the dungeons to progress through the story. There are several dungeons, and more will be accessible as you progress through the game’s story.

Battles are turn-based and divided into rounds. In a single round, both your characters and enemies will have an opportunity to attack. No stats or deep turn-based mechanics are taken into consideration. Your characters will automatically attack enemies, though you’re required to trigger your character’s skills manually. You have to make the most out of your time on the dungeons because of a lenient yet unnecessary stamina mechanic.

As for the management/ RTS aspect, the game puts you in charge of what is essentially a castle/base with numerous facilities. It can get a little overwhelming, but the tutorial does a decent job in letting you understand the many gameplay mechanics. However, when you reach above level 10 though, you’ll be left to figure things out on your own. Like most base-building games, there are also timers whenever you build or upgrade buildings, but you can instantly finish timers under five minutes.

One hard gameplay aspect to get over is the game limiting certain features according to level. Though you could argue that this is the game’s progression system, it kind of shackles you down. Moreover, if the game introduces everything at once, the learning curve skyrockets. However, there’s little excuse to limit friend features and other elements at level 15 and above. Another part to watch out for is the summoning mechanic. The game gives you a full-fledged hero when you do advanced summons, but if you’re doing normal summons, you’ll be given a PART of a hero instead of a full one.

There are also in-game resources you’ll need to gather from your base’s buildings. You’ll need to frequently log in and gather them since they’re extremely important in improving your combat ability. Note that there are many currencies, both premium and free, which you’ll use for summoning mercenaries and improving buildings. It gets a little convoluted, but you’ll get used to it.

Community

Eternal Fury 2’s multiplayer aspect focuses mainly on PvP. When you reach a certain level, you can enter the PvP Arena to test your mettle against other players. If you have friends to play the game with you, you can spar and engage each other in a 1v1 battle.

Graphics/Sound

In terms of presentation, Eternal Fury 2 excels, especially on the base-building aspect. The building models are a sight for sore eyes. Meanwhile, the character designs are a little fanservice-y. Female characters wear clothes that are a little too revealing which may appeal or put you off depending on your preferences. The dungeon and combat parts look fairly decent as well.

Unfortunately, the character and in-game dialogues are riddled with awkward sentences which make explanations hard to follow. Skipping them isn’t an option since you have to read them when going through the tutorials.

Conclusion

Overall, Eternal Fury 2 is a game that tries to cater to two sides of the same coin. It does things well in most parts and it can provide a fun experience. There are a few minor gaffes, like the dialogue and locked parts, but the gameplay loop and variety are guaranteed to keep you playing for hours.

So, give it a shot and start your journey across Midgard!
