Gameplay
Are you ready to get the ball rolling? Awesome! In United Eleven, you can fill your football club with officially licensed footballers –up to 50,000 of them - from the top football leagues in Europe. As expected, there are limited spaces to recruit new players in this game, but you’ll get a free player slot for every level up. Once you’ve set up your football club, you’re ready to go as your club will be automatically be assigned to a league.
United Eleven is a football simulation game that contains a lot of details, all of which showcase the intricacies of one of the most popular type of sports in the world! An example includes the formation of your team. There are up to 12 different types of formations available in this game, such as 4-5-1, 3-3-4, 3-4-3, and 4-4-2. Also, each player has their own roles to play, namely goal keeper, striker, forward and defend. Don’t place your players in the wrong slots in the formation or your formation will be ruined! The best part is that all of these formations are available to both spenders and free-to-play player. This is a very nice touch as most other football simulation games blocks a substantial portion of its formation behind a paywall.
Besides formation, there’s also tactics. Tactics refer to the attacking direction, tackle intensity, long range shooting, passing style, and balance (defensive or offensive). There are also plenty of tactical options such as “Shoot on sight”, “Play wide”, “Kick and rush”, “Pressure play and tough tackling”, and many more. You can change these tactics depending on your play style and formation. There are even tactical cards that you can play to give your team a small but significant boost as well.
Interestingly, player attributes in United Eleven actually reflect real-life performances. This means that the star of the season changes depending on the player’s performance for each season and naturally, if you managed to recruit one of the stars of the season, you can boost your chances of winning a match. Of course, there are plenty other ways to improve your team’s shot at the trophy, stats-wise. This includes training. Train player stats or give them special abilities, which will increase the chance of, for example scoring a goal or defending. Each player can have up to 8 different special abilities.
Furthermore, do bear in mind that football is a team sport, and you can’t possibly win a match by simply having the most talented players. Thus, United Eleven came up with a unique concept called “Unity”. By building team chemistry via uniting your team, you can improve your team’s teamwork as well as passing skills. Players from the same country or league will provide some sort of synergy effect among themselves, granting your team a nice overall stats boost.
Ready to score some goals? Well, hit the play button to search for a quick match among your friends or play with other players worldwide. There are also leagues (as mentioned) which are technically scheduled matches that will help your football club rise up the ranks, provided that you won the previous league. You can also check out your opponents’ formation and compare their overall stats prior to the match, but of course, your opponent can merely change it at the very last minute just to throw you off-guard. In fact, this is one of the strategies, deceptive nonetheless, that players can use to get a slight advantage.
One of the best parts in United Eleven is that you can watch your players play the matches live. It may not be as impressive as... say... FIFA, but it’s pretty good for a browser-based game. Not to mention, you can also change formation and apply tactics in real-time to positively affect the outcome of a match. After a match, you can even see the analytics of the match. There is plenty of detailed information that will drive any football-obsessed fan crazy with excitement.

Graphics-wise, United Eleven has rather brightly colored and vibrant-looking visuals that do bring out the excitement of being in a football match. In terms of music, the game doesn’t provide any background music for the majority parts of the game. However, when you view a live match, you’ll be treated with the ambient sounds of being in a football match itself. It’s simply amazing.
