As the player you are in a cantina taking control of a variety of characters on a holo board. There are a huge range of different missions, and there are stories to follow for both the light side and the dark side. As well as raids and other actions with their own unique story too. A lot of different tales all woven into this one game.
WHen you enter the game you are introduced to the basic elements by a staff member at a cantina, and shown the basics of recruiting and using your heroes in the battles. As you unlock new features she will guide you through how to use them and to make the best out of what the game has to offer. Once you finish speaking to here you will have 3 characters, and a series of quests to complete.
These quests not only have their own rewards but they will also show you how to play the game in more detail, and how to unlock new characters and they give you a direction to head in. All in all these quests are a serious advantage for you to complete and give you a good jump into what to do here.
The game is divided into several sections, each of which has a different emphasis, the main elements are the light and dark stories, here you use characters of that particular alignment to fight off enemies of the other, or more neutral creatures and bosses too. These stories take part in sections and you must complete the previous levelt to move on to the next. Each level has some rewards that include experience and items, both of which you need to empower you characters.
The battles are easy to play, but hard to master. In each one you have 5 characters, and occasionally a guest character that you control for story purposes. One of the characters is a leader, and the rest are following. Each character acts according to their speed bar, the higher the bar the easier in the turn they go and this can have a huge impact on the fight. You get to pick which skill to use and which enemy to attack, and planning or having the right team is an essential part of the game.
The leader has a special role, many characters in the game have a leader trait that you can unlock, such as extra armour, more damage or a special ability granted to your group. The choice of leader is an important one, as it can sway an individual fight to your advantage if you find you are missing a particular trait or statistic. Having several leaders leveled up is useful to get through the higher levels of the game.
The characters that you have can be empowered, both in their star rating and their tier rating. Both of these will impact the power of the character and the higher they are the better. Some skills are also locked behind a certina requirement and these skills can also be improved. There are several currencies and items that you use to increase the stats on a character and these can be farmed in the game or purchased in the shop.
For higher end players there are also raids available too, these entail working with your guild to defeat specific bosses. You use your team of characters alongside your friends and take on several different rounds of enemies all the way to the final bosses. Each of these has a huge amount of rewards but they are one of the most challenging aspects of the game. You can also play in PvP with your guild or go solo into the arena too, for a different yet equally powerful set of rewards.
One of the best features of the game is the ship on ship combats, guild wars and general space based mayhem. Using some of the most famous ships you can battle in the same way as the heroes and villains, just with a different set of stats and abilities based on the vessel you use. A lot of fun to be found doing this part of the game.
There are lots of currencies and items in the game, most notably the cards which carry shards, credits and the experience spenders to level your characters. These come in a variety of levels, and all can be bought in the store for diamonds, and some you earn free in the game. These diamonds are the premium currency, and will speed up the process of getting the tougher characters and ships, and will help you along but you can also unlock everything for free, it just takes longer.
The controls for Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes are really easy, it is all touch screen and you can see the different controls. The guides will show you around the main interfaces too, so it is easy to pick up. Inside of the battles the Third Person view makes for exciting gameplay and is a nice touch to an already smooth game. There is a really nice feeling when you play and the action is exciting, particularly when you get one of the main characters.
This game forms yet another part of a huge universe and as one of the most popular franchises in the world you can imagine the number of players and the sheer excitement a new game presents. There are a lot of players in this game, many forums and web communities dedicated to characters and strategy, not to mention all of the discussions on the Lore and world created.
