In this fun new game you are able to recruit, train and empower a huge variety of Disney characters and then take them on an adventure. The pixelated world around you is being eaten by a virus and the characters controlled. Here you must fight them in team based battles, take on waves of enemies and even other players as you build your collection of both heroes and villains.
A virus is slowly corrupting all of the pixels in the Disney universe and making all of the characters turn against their friends and family to help the virus spread. You start as Ralph and from there must stop all these characters and find the cause of this nasty virus.
When you first enter the game you are taken straight to the adventure where Ralph and Vanellope are trying to find out what is going on, when she is suddenly captured leaving him alone. From here you are joined by other non converted heroes and must discover what is happening. You are also taken into a battle where you can see how the game works and the different abilities you have.
Each battle is divided into 3 waves, and you must defeat all 3 to complete it, the different waves will drop a range of loot for you which is collected at the end and you can choose when to use your characters ultimate skills. The battle auto plays out the basic abilities and will attack the creatures in the front rank. When all the monsters are defeated you clear the level and can move on and claim your rewards.
Once you finish the battle and the tutorials you are off into the city, where you can collect your daily logins, check your mail and talk to your friends and guild mates. There are also lots of different ways for you to experience the game, such as entering into a pvp arena, or playing through the campaign. This is also where you can open the chests you collect and discover what loots you have, including character shards, badges and boost items.
Character shards are how you unlock and develop your characters to give them more power. You can increase a characters statistics by giving them more stars. You can also equip them with a series of badges, these allow you to make them tougher and have them hit your enemies harder. Once a character has all 6 badges you can upgrade their rank to make them even better.
Shards also give you access to new characters too, and this is how you build your collection up. Each character has a unique role in the game such as dealing damage or controlling your enemies. The best teams have a bit of everything in them to help them defeat the tougher bosses at the higher levels. Picking a small group of characters to focus on first is a good way of being able to open up all aspects of the game, and then you can buff up the rest of them.
There are also lots of other places you can find items to help your characters, they have a level that can be increased by using xp drinks, and you can gain enhancement points to improve skills by using SD cards you find. There are stores where you can buy items with the gold you find and there are special actions and events you can do when you reach higher levels that have special rewards.
The game uses 2 main currencies: Gold and Diamonds. Gold is earned through the game and is used for many of the basic items and enhancements, also on improving your characters. Diamonds are the premium currency and can be used to speed up the game, buy gold and use the VIP status. You do receive diamonds in the game and they can also be purchased for real money.
Disney Heroes: Battle Mode is a cute game designed for children, but one that has enough depth to appeal to adults too. There is a lot of work put in and the huge range of Disney characters on display is great. However it is still a game for children and it can be very simple at times. There is also a tendency to push for he more real money orientated aspects, like the VIP status. It is a fun game with some nice touches to enjoy and you don’t often get to be all of the incredibles in one place together.
This is a really popular game, and for a good reason, as such it has a huge base of players that really like the game, many of them are younger so it lends itself towards child friendly chat and in game tools.
