Set up your base on a dusty little planet and grow it into a formidable space empire in this exciting text-based and space-themed MMO strategy game, Space Invasion! Establish a strong economy to ensure the continued growth of your city and fleet. The game offers plenty of spaceships for you to recruit to your cause as well as the chance to expand your empire by setting up other bases on other alien planets after you’ve managed to capture it from the aliens. Don’t forget to invest into the many researches available and also on your planet’s defences to repel any potential attackers. If you enjoy sci-fi-themed, text-based games, you might want to give Space Invasion a go. Try it today!
To start playing, you’ll need to select a server to log into. There are 6 servers for you to choose from. Do take note that there are 2 versions of Space Invasions, namely Space Invasion Classic and Space Invasion 2. Both versions are generally the same gameplay-wise, but for better graphics and less “text-based”, you might want to go play the second version instead. There is also a speed universe where everything is speeded up (have increases rates) somewhat.
Also, there is no tutorial in Classic version, but there’s one in Space Invasion 2 in the form of quests. In the Classic version, it can get a bit confusing, with so many tabs listed on the side. Again, it’ll be best to start with Space Invasion 2 before heading over to the Classic servers to explore the Classic version of the game. The quests are really slow to progress though, so you can still have fun trying to figure out stuff for yourself. Most of the basics in the game are pretty easy to figure out and you should be able to find you way around pretty fast, especially if you have any experience with MMO strategy games.
Anyway, as a start, you’ll need to set up a good production economy on your planet. Thankfully, the game provides you with the basic production factories right off the bat, namely the pig iron mine for pig iron, kryptonite mine for kryptonite and a fusion plant for producing energy. There’s another resource, spice that you’ll later need to build a mine for. The game also helpfully provides you with a warehouse to store all your metals. You can later upgrade these structures to increase production. Unlike some other MMO strategy games, you can queue up to 5 upgrades at a time in Space Invasion.
Energy is perhaps the most important resource among all these other resources as all your mines will only operate optimally if you have enough energy to keep them going. So, be sure to keep an eye on your energy production, particularly after you’ve constructed any new buildings in the game
Eventually, you’ll also need to build a blast furnace to process the pig iron you’ve obtained into more varieties of metals and metal alloys. Do take note that different resources, especially processed resources, will require different warehouses to store them. So make sure you have the warehouses built before you start production for that type of metal.
To build new structures though, you can do so by going to the development centre or via the building button at the top right corner of the screen. The process of building or upgrading in Space Invasion has a cooldown. This means that after obtaining a string of upgrades, you won’t be able to upgrade anymore at least until the time that the game indicates besides the upgrades that you’re supposed to be able to do. This feature slows down the pace of the game and can feel very restrictive to some players (feels like the game is intentionally holding you back). However, don’t worry too much about this at first as every new quest you take will reset the cooldown, allowing you to once again perform upgrades or constructions.
There is also a tech tree in Space Invasion whereby you can discover new technologies that will give your city’s economy a boost as well as develop and improve your military might to give your space fighters an advantage against the enemy. However, this is only available later in the game and that also includes the military aspect of the game.
You’ll only be able to build your fleet base, whereby you can recruit cadets and commission the building of the amazing spaceships, much later in the game. In Space Invasion, there are many types of spaceships on offer. There are 17 different types in total, though not all of them are combat ships. Some of them like the transport ships are used for trading while spy probes are used for spying. In addition to building up your fleet, you will need to remember to build defences for your base as well. This includes a variety of cannons and shield domes, and many more other defensive structures.
For PvP, you can choose to spy on another player’s planet by sending spy probes and send fleet to attack it… or you could just do both! At times, you’ll also be prompted with events such as alien invasions that force you to mobilize your fleet to counter the enemy’s advances.
In addition, there are plenty of achievements, including special ones that will earn you titles, as well as heroic acts, like reaching rank 1 on the leaderboard, that you can attain too. If you enjoy the game and would alike t show your support, you can spend some real cash to buy Urplasms (premium currency) and with it, you can then purchase a variety of premium items like assistants to help you manage your city or your fleet, planet expansions, so you can build more structures and starter (resource) pack or the fleet pack.
The Space Invasion community often group together in alliances and well, being the leader of a rather small planet at the moment, it might be in your best interests to sing up and join one too. The more experienced players in your alliance will be able to aid and guide you as you grow into a space empire that you can be proud of. The game’s community is rather small though as you can only see less than a thousand active players in total on all the servers. The game’s Facebook page also has around 8 thousand likes. If you want to meet players in the community, you can try the Facebook page or the game’s official forums.
Being more of a text-based game, Space Invasion Classic doesn’t really have any good graphics to boast of, but for Space Invasion 2, the sceneries are pretty well-done and the structures are very crisply designed. In terms of sound, the game has none. However, this means that you’re free to out on any music you like on your playlist to accompany yourself as you play the game.
Space Invasion is nicely-designed, sci-fi-themed and mainly text-based MMO strategy game that is pretty similar, in terms of gameplay, to other text-based MMO strategy games out there on the internet. In this game, you’ll need to set up a strong economy, build fortified defences and amass a formidable fleet. Expand the sphere of your empire’s influence by attacking and capturing new alien planets to set up new outposts on. There is a ranking system as well as achievements for those high-achieving gamers too. Sounds like fun? Well, don’t wait - Travel unknown and mysterious planets and set up your very first base in Space Invasion today!
