Gameplay
The game mechanics of this game is fairly straightforward and simple. You just need to connect 3 or more adjacent jellies together by selecting them and moving your cursor to link the jellies together in a chain. You can move your mouse cursor in any direction you like as long as the jellies are linked, including diagonally. Naturally, the longer the line, the higher the score!
Super powered jellies will only appear at level 3. To get these amazing super jellies, you’ll need to get at least 6, or more, jellies in a chain. The longer the line you linked up, the more super jellies you create. These super jellies are usually placed on the last row your cursor was at when you linked up the previous chain of jellies. You can also combine 2 or more super jellies to get a more powerful effect!
The game may feel very easy at first as there is no move or time limits. However, as you reach level 4, the game imposed a move limit. You’ll need to complete the game objective, which can range from earning the required amount of score points to clearing all the gray slimes on the board, within the number of moves provided. Sometimes, you’ll also be asked to collect diamonds by dropping them to the bottom of the board and of course, there is many more variety of level goals that you’ll encounter as you reach higher levels.
If you didn’t manage to complete the objective with the limited moves available, you’ll then lose a life. There are a total of 5 lives per player and these lives, when lost, will regenerate slowly over time. If you can’t wait, you can spend some real cash to buy more. However, if you managed to clear the level with some moves remaining, the leftover moves will then be used up in the Splash Time event by converting random normal jellies into super jellies and activate them. Of course, any existing super jellies on the board are first activated though.
To spice the gameplay up a fair bit, Jelly Splash introduces plenty of obstacles to you. Among them, the most common is perhaps the gray slime. To clear these slimes, you’ll just need to match jellies that are on top of the slimes to clear them. There are also black mushrooms that cannot be moved but can be cleared by chaining up matches adjacent to it. There is even a trapped jelly obstacle, whereby the jelly in question will have a number on the top right corner. The number shows you how many matches you’ll need to make to get it free. The word “Matches” here refer to the number of jellies in the chain. So, if the number is 5, you’ll need to get at least 5 jellies, including the trapped one, and chain them up to clear the trapped jelly.
Due to these obstacles, it can be hard to earn the complete 3 stars particularly in the later levels in your first go. Thus, you might need to return to the previous levels and replay them in an attempt to gain 3 stars. Don’t worry though! You just need 1 star to proceed to the next level. Once all the levels in a stage are completed, you’ll then need to unlock the next stage (the first few stages are free though) by asking your friends for help.
Is the perfectionist in you driving you mad as getting that 3 stars seem to be as elusive as it gets? Well, don’t worry! Jelly Splash offers plenty of boosters that you can, buy using premium cash, and use. Some examples include the super jellys and the magic hat. For instance, for super jellys, you’ll start the game with 2 super jellies on your board. These boosters will need to be unlocked first by playing and reaching the required level of match-3 game.
