Summary
Divine Storm is a new Free to Play browser MMO where you become a great hero trying to save the world. There is a great evil that has returned and is trying to shape the destiny of the realms to its bidding. Now it falls to you to live up to prophesy and stand in their way. Choose your class and head to the battlefields to save not only yourself but the entire world.
Gameplay
There are 3 classes for you to choose from in Divine Storm, the Warrior, Ranger or Mage. Each has their own unique set of skills and abilities to fight with and they can all compete with the enemy. You begin with only 2 skills and as you progress through the levels you will unlock more. There are also skill ranks that make them more powerful and these can be added at certain character levels.
Once you have the skills it is time to set off on your adventure, from rescuing princesses to clearing dungeons there are lots of different things for you to take part in and ways of getting experience. As you would expect in an MMO there are also quests for you to complete that will give you rewards as well as experience. These quests can be done manually or you can let the game do the pathing and fighting for you if you wish.
You also have a set of items, these will increase your battle rating, the number which affects all of your damage. The higher your rating the more damage you can do and the more powerful your abilities. If you get an item that is an upgrade you can equip it instantly. There are also a couple of other ways your power goes up.
The first of these is an elven companion, small and winged they will follow you around and fight with you. Different elves have different skills and you can upgrade their power and give them levels of their own. Doing so will help you and they are kinds of cute following you around. There are also pets that work in much the same way, and you can acquire different pets with unique abilities as you play.
As you progress through the game you also will be able to unlock a variety of new features, such as dungeons and PvP battle areas. Each of these is a separate area for you to enjoy and you can, as before choose to play it yourself or to have the game auto grind a certain area for the xp and items. There are also raids for you to enjoy with the guild, as well as guild on guild battles too.
Each day that you play the game will give you a series of rewards, the more days you play in a row the better they will be. These can be collected from one of the in game tabs. There are also rewards for being online over a length of time and for making certain level targets. All of these will flash when you can pick them up and they will go into your bags.
If you wish to speed up the game there are also lots of premium package options for you. These will contain the items you need to increase your level, pet and elf levels as well as the best equipment in the game. These can all be purchased for real money directly in game, and will also give you the benefits of premium membership too.
Overall Divine Storm is a pretty standard game, with some flashy animations for the class moves and a lot of monsters for you to fight. The game will essentially play itself if you let it, and while it can be useful if you need to afk, it can get a bit dull after a while. Being able to control the characters is fun but there is a distinct lack of depth to what your characters can do. All together it is what you would expect from a free to play game, with a few nice looking areas and certain aspects that you can still enjoy.
Community
With an active Facebook page there is somewhere for you to check out the news and info about Divine Storm. There are also guilds in the game for you to join, though as the game is new there are not yet that many big guilds around, but you can always form your own. There are lots of people around however so you will be able to chat in game and make friends there, or bring your own in too.
Graphics/Sound
Divine Storm is a pretty game, with some showy graphics for the class effects. Outside of that the UI has a lot of clutter and information on it that you do not need. Despite that you can clearly see the action and have a pretty good idea of what is going on. Although it uses the 2.5D graphics you would expect, it does it pretty well.
Conclusion
While there is nothing new about Divine Storm it is still a fun game, there are lots of different quests and characters for you to meet and the pet/elf scheme of leveling is an added bonus that can be entertaining. Overall the game can be fun, and the guild wars can be thrilling but if you like a game with serious depth, this may not be the one for you. If you want something easy and enjoyable to pass the time then Divine Storm is a good place to be.
