It's a Smelly Day in Fortnite with the Switch Lockout Still Going Strong

Stinky grenades are everywhere in Fortnite, making fresh air a rare commodity and unfortunately, there’s no sign that the Epic Games account lockout will be resolved soon. WWGDB - It's a Smelly Day in Fortnite with the Switch Lockout Still Going Strong

Fortnite has gotten a little smelly over the week, and to add to the stink, there is no sign that Nintendo Switch players will be able to get to carry over their progress if they linked their Epic accounts to a PlayStation 4. In addition, the game introduced a new and tweaked version of another favorite limited time mode, which is Final Fight: Teams of 20. Although this week is fairly slow in terms of news, time is running out: the battle pass season ends on July 9th. This gives players a few weeks to complete all the challenges and get the much-coveted Omega and Blockbuster skin.

Stink Bomb

Stink bombs in Fortnite

Fortnite’s new v4.4 updateintroduced a new item into the mix: Stink Bombs. Surprisingly, this new thrown item is fairly lethal. Dealing five damage every half a second, it is a great deterrent for campers and people who are trapped in a vulnerable position, like a basement. Furthermore, the item is also a perfect substitute for the now-vaulted Smoke Grenade. You can use it to make quick escapes: throw one underneath you, run and opponents will end up shooting blindly into a fart cloud.

Who farted?

Note that the grenade immediately explodes upon contact with a surface, may it be a wall, a roof, or the ground. It says for a duration of nine seconds, enabling it to deal 90 damage in total. This may not seem much, but throwing multiple stink bombs in one location can monumentally increase the damage. It is like being inside a storm that deals five damage per second. It can be found in stacks of three (you can carry maximum stacks of five) the floor, chests, and vending machines.

Rocket reload nerf

Rockets and grenade launchers have been subjected to numerous nerfs in the past. Guided missiles have been vaulted, and rocket ammo floor and ammo box loot has substantially been reduced. Epic released a new nerf which lengthens the reload time depending on the weapon’s rarity. Rare ones have increased reload time from 2.3 to 2.8 seconds, while Epic went from 2.185 to 2.66. Finally, Legendary rocket launchers went from 2.07 to 2.52.

Shopping carts keep getting their wheels clipped

Fortnite shopping cart bug

Shopping carts are one of the wackiest additions on Fortnite and though they’re good for comedy relief and are a quick way to escape the storm, they suffer from a number of issues. One such issue includes this:

Two of our teammates actually went through the bottom of the map while walking through the waterfall while using a shopping cart near Lucky Landing. In any case, the carts were disabled last June 17, brought back on the 21st, and disabled two hours later. Though it’s hilarious seeing players pushing carts all over the map, it’s funnier seeing Epic Games struggling with the item.

Teams of 20: Final Fight

Fortnite teams of 20

A new tweak to the teams of 20 mode is up and running as a new LTM. Final Fight places you in one team of 20, and you will have to contend with four other teams for supremacy. The storm circles are fairly lenient with the first two being rather large, enabling you to hunt down enemies freely. When the final circle - a small one - closes, a timer emerges. Once it’s up, the team with the most players remaining wins. In case of a tie, the two or more teams with the lead will end up getting the victory royale.

Epic Account lockout: money talks

Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 Fortnite players may not see a silver lining regarding the account lockout anytime soon. There is still no way to link your Epic Games account to your Switch and XBox if you’ve linked it to your PlayStation 4, in spite of the widespread furor and demand. Your progress is locked to the PlayStation 4, and there’s absolutely no way for you to carry over your Battle Pass progress and in-game items like skins. This move is a step backward and is hypocritical to Sony’s supposed “for the gamers” stance. Blocking cross-platform play is acceptable, but holding third-party accounts hostage is reeks as bad as the stink bomb.

The reason why Sony did this is fairly obvious: money. John Smedley, the former head of Sony Online Entertainment explained it in a now-deleted tweet. He stated “...when I was at Sony, the stated reason internally for this was money. They didn't like someone buying something on an Xbox and it being used on a Playstation. simple as that.”. Although you could argue that Sony is merely securing their assets and urging players to stay on their platform, it is something that deserves flak and needs to change in the near future.

So, are you ready to throw fart bombs at your enemies and dive in with five other teams? Though you’ll have to wait to push shopping carts again and spend more time inserting rockets into your RPGs, diving in to the game this week will treat you to a smelly, yet incredibly fun experience Give the new LTM a try, and look for a few ingenious ways to use stink bombs!
