If you’re looking for a casual solitaire game to pass the time, Tripeaks Solitaire by Steel Feather is definitely a game you’d want to check out. With 75 levels available and more to come, there are plenty of games for you to enjoy in the game’s timed or moves-based game modes. There are even power-ups that you can use to help you complete the game.
Before you start a game, you might want to tap on the Settings button and customize your gameplay. There are 2 game modes in Tripeaks Solitaire – timed mode or moves-based mode. Depending on your preferences, you can change the speed of the game by picking either timed (faster pace) or moves (slower and more casual pace). Once done, you can start playing some solitaire.
True to its simplistic looks, Tripeaks Solitaire is a classic solitaire game through and through. This means that for players who have any experience playing tripeaks, they could simply skip the tutorial and head straight into the game. Of course, even if you are absolutely new to the game, you needn’t worry. The game is very simple to pick up and the tutorial provided should be enough to guide you through how the game works.
Basically though, all you need to do is to match the face-up card beside your deck – this card is called the “Deck card” – with any other face-up card on the table that is 1 value higher or lower than the value on the deck card. Do this until all of the cards on the table have been collected and you’ll have completed the level.
So, for instance, if your deck card is an Ace of Hearts, you can match that card with a King or a 2 of any suit... and yes, this also means that card suits (spades, clubs, hearts or diamonds) don’t matter in this game. You can collect as many cards as you like from the table as long as the values of the cards are in order.
However, when there isn’t a card with a value that can match your deck card, you’ll then need to draw a new card from the deck. There are limited number of cards in your deck though, so you’ll need to be really “stingy” when it comes to drawing a card. Be sure to scan the table a few times for any possible matches before turning to your deck.
Whoops, you missed out a match. Silly you! What can you do now? Well, Tripeaks Solitaire is quite the generous game when it comes to correcting mistakes. You are given 1 of each of the power-ups available in the game for free for every level you play. Among the power-ups is the Undo ability. You can use it to literally turn back time and undo your most recent move.
Of course, aside from the Undo power-up, there are 2 other power-ups that you can use – the Joker and the Revealer. The Joker is an incredibly useful card to wipe the slate clean, so to speak, so you can pick a new deck card from the table. Most players use it either as a last resort so they could collect the very last card from the table when they have ran out of cards to draw from their deck. However, you could also use it whenever you’ve spotted a long chain of cards that you can collect but have had no luck getting the deck card you need.
The Revealer, on the other hand, allows you to instantly reveal a face-down card on the table. It doesn’t really seem useful, but if you want to create a longer chain of matches, this power-up may just be the tool to use so you can plan out your moves. If you ask me, I would highly recommend you use your power-ups. Since you’ll always get 1 of each power-up for free in every level, and that you can’t accumulate your free power-ups if they are left unused, there is absolutely no reason to hold back and not use these power-ups whenever you need to.
Not to mention, if you’re idle for too long, the game also has an automatic hint system that will highlight possible matches for you. If there aren’t any, the game will then highlight your deck, so you’d know to draw a new card. If you prefer to play without hints, you can disable this via the game’s Settings.
The levels in Tripeaks Solitaire aren’t exactly difficult to solve, though there may be times when you would appreciate having some extra help in addition to the free ones that you have. If that’s the case, you can always spend a bit of real cash to buy more power-ups, while showing some love to the developers who have made the game that you currently enjoy playing.
There are 75 levels in total at the moment, and from the level selection menu, it’s obvious that there are plenty more levels to come. Tripeaks Solitaire is also a very replayable game since the cards that you get are randomized in each level so you could play the same level over and over again, and the gameplay would be slightly different. Let’s not forget that for every level, you could play it at least twice – once in timed mode and once more in moves-based mode. In other words, Tripeaks Solitaire is simply the sort of game that you’ll keep around on your mobile devices long after you’ve completed all the levels.
The game is currently designed for single-player entertainment with no interaction between players, which I personally think is a major downside. Although the game’s casually fun to play and everything, it would have been nice to have a leaderboard where players can see how they have performed among their friends or peers while competing for the top spots (and hence, the bragging rights) in the game.
Being simplistic in nature, Tripeaks Solitaire has plain yet functional backgrounds and cards. The cards and the background contrast each other perfectly, but for some of the game’s older players, they might find it a bit hard to see the numbers on the cards, especially if they are playing the game on a phone and not a phablet or a tablet. The game has no music or sound.
All in all, Tripeaks Solitaire is a classic solitaire game that’s not only fun; it also offers very high replayability. In addition to its replayability, the game currently has a list of 75 levels with more levels in the pipeline, so you probably be playing this game for quite some time to come. Due to the casual entertainment it provides and that the game can be played offline, Tripeaks Solitaire is a great way for a person to fill up some idle time, such as during the daily commute. Sounds like the game you’re looking for? Well, be sure to try it today!
