Summary

Vampire Empire is a pretty typical and decent, MMO strategy game where you’ll get to build your kingdom from scratch, assemble your army, and conquer the map. However, the game adds in some RPG elements, allowing your Lord to be leveled up and equipped with items that can bolster his/her strength. Plus, there special monsters that your hero can slay and skills that you can invest in that will benefit your entire empire.

Plotline

The game doesn’t have a lot of story going for it. It only mentioned something about the world being in turmoil and in hopes of a future of peace and prosperity, the people appointed you as their new king.

Gameplay

Being an MMO strategy game, the first thing the game will introduce to you is your city where you rule over. Here, there are tons of buildings that you can, and should, be developing, including resource-producing buildings like farms, sawmills and others, as well as unit-producing buildings like the siege factory, the barracks, the archery and more.

Since you only get 1 construction slot and no way to queue up building tasks, the game provides you with a magic Speed-up button that instantly completes every construction job that is 5 minutes or below. However, this limit increases as you gain tiers in its VIP system. For instance, you can speed up tasks that are below 8 minutes if you have Tier 1 VIP. Of course, there are also speed-up boosters that you can use to further speed up tasks. You can’t really buy these using game currency but you can earn them by completing certain quests and leveling up.

Not to mention, Vampire Empire has a research system that you can access via the College. There are plenty of extra perks that you can gain in various fields, giving you small but significant boosts to important aspects of empire and army building.

As you’ll need them for practically everything you do, whether it is to upgrade a building, researching a new tech or to recruit more troops to your army, resources are crucial in this game. That’s is why Vampire Empire offers you so many ways to earn them! You can get a sizeable amount simply by completing individual quests in this game. However, once you’ve unlocked the other types of quests, you can earn even more resources by simply activating them, letting them run their course, and then collecting the rewards after.

There are also tons of plunder-ready resource locations on the Kingdom map where you can send your troops to raid. Depending on which type of resource you need, you’ll want to raid the correct location. If you have a strong enough army, you can even try raiding a fellow player’s city in hopes of plundering even more resources, but naturally, if the player’s an active player, you can probably expect some form of retaliation, especially if both of you are pretty evenly matched in level.

Leveling up is also a great way to earn a ton of resources, but know that you’ll get something more valuable out of it as well – skill points! These skill points can be invested into your Lord or hero, whichever way you call your character, allowing you to obtain some really nice upgrades for your city and for your hero’s monster-hunting skills. Your hero can also equip weapons and armor but unlike in a usual RPG where you can get these items as loot drops, you’ll have to gather the materials instead and craft the items manually at your blacksmith, which could take a while.

“Wait a minute! My hero can hunt monsters?” Well, that absolutely right! There are two ways to go about monster-hunting in Vampire Empire – You can challenge monster bosses via Dungeon Adventure where you basically spend stamina to click on the monster and loot will come out of it… like hitting a pinata; or you can find and attack a monster (of a suitable level, mind you!) on the Kingdom map. Taking on monsters that are way too strong for you is definitely a bad idea, so don’t do that.

Like many other browser-based MMO strategy games, combat here is automatically resolved based on several factors, but most importantly, it depends on how many higher-level troops you have. You can upgrade your troops by upgrading their respective recruitment facilities and you can recruit more of them via the very same buildings as well. This game doesn’t seem to have an upkeep so as long as you’ve got enough space to house them and the resources to recruit them, then you can enroll as many units as you want into your army.

Now, Vampire Empire is a freemium game and as such, you can expect to get plenty of perks if you’re willing to dump some cash into the game. Besides selling you premium currency for real money, you can also purchase various packs containing a ton of stuff, like extra speed-ups, a peace shield and more, for $4.99 and above. There is also a tiered VIP system where the higher you go, the better perks you’ll get.

However, for those of us who can’t or don’t want to spend real money in the game, know that you can collect quite a lot of extra rewards simply by staying online or logging in daily. In fact, the game gives you 1-day VIP 1 pass after signing up and playing the game for a while.

Community

Similar to other games within the genre, Vampire Empire has many social features, including an in-game chat system and a guild system called Alliance. By being a part of an Alliance, which you most definitely should, you can get help from your fellow allies to speed up construction, in addition to having access to Alliance-only features like Alliance store, Alliance gifts, Alliance chat and monster attack.

You can choose to set up your own Alliance since you should be able to save up the 200 Gold (premium currency) cost you need to do so, or you can just join an existing one instead.

Graphics/ Sound

Vampire Empire looks a lot like a mobile game, which it probably is or was? However, the game does look “okay” for a browser game. In terms of sound, the game uses a very generic piece of music that I could have sworn I heard in another game at some point. Some of the sound effects also seem to be taken from some other games, namely Age of Empires.

Conclusion

All in all, Vampire Empire is your typical browser-based MMO strategy game that can be pretty fun to play especially if you’re into the genre, but know that the game is pay-to-win and that you can buy, using real cash or premium currency, almost every advantage in the game to give yourself a pretty huge leg’s up. However, if you're willing to put in the time and effort, you should be able to
