With this amazing strategy game you have a whole lot of depth, playability and social activity to keep you going. From fortifying and developing your castle to exploring monster filled crypts there is always something for you to gain. You can join a clan and battle your enemies, or vie for the crown to be king.
When you first enter the game you are set off on a siege where you are claiming your first castle. From there you have a castellan who will act as your advisor and show you how to build up your city and armies and the basics of the game. Here you will learn the materials you need and the actions you can take to help yourself over the course of your adventure.
As you would expect in a strategy game there are resources that you need to collect, in this instance there are several different things, all of which can be gathered by making buildings in your city. These range from making lumber and stone to collecting tar for exploring crypts. These buildings can be upgraded and you will need several of each to keep up with the costs of making your empire.
Once you get this going you can then begin to make your army, you begin with a few troops and an elite unit on loan to you for a few days. There are barracks where you can make more troops and each unit falls into a category of fighting style. These categories also determine a strength and weakness, for example melee units are good at removing mounted units, but weak against archery units. Using the fight unit in battle is key to victory.
As well as troops you also have Captains, these are special characters that have certain boosts of their own. These lead your armies and can also be given equipment to make them and your units stronger in battle. The equipment is made at your forge and you can find the materials needed in crypts.
Crypts are one of the best ways to find all the crafting materials as well as the items you need for your city, such as food or silver. You simply send one of your captains away to search in the crypt and they spend you tar in the search. Once you have completed it they will vanish off the map, but award you and your clan with a treasure chest as well as the items you find in there which you get to keep.
Your armies can be used to mop up monsters in the surrounding area, or take holdings such as mines or farms for yourself for the extra resources. Fighting a monster will reward you with experience and valour points, the latter of which are used for the majority of your research. You can also choose to attack other players cities or holdings, but beware as you can also be attacked.
This is where the clans come in, here you have a group of people that can and will work together for mutual defence and to create a strong kingdom. There is also a campaign that comes around where you can compete against other players to be crowned the king. As a king you have special powers and can receive taxes from your people that can be used to give huge bonuses to your clan.
As mentioned there is also the option to do a lot of research, this can be things such as extra resources or improving your military units. There are huge trees for you to delve into and you will need a lot of valour to reach the highest levels of knowledge, so it is best to be aggressive where you can and make sure that your research is up to date.
There are also daily quests, that reset every 6 hours, these can give you a variety of bonuses, and some can be instant and others will take a certain amount of time. Completing all of them can get you a good amount of things in a day so try to keep up with them. As well as the quests there is a set of achievements, which you can follow and receive rewards for completing too.
Outside of the game mechanics, there are also a huge range of different booster sets available. Once every 12 hours you will get one for free, and there are a lot of different options available for real money that can give you a specialised boost, such as helping to build your city or making an elite army.
In Total Battle there are a lot of different things for you to do and keep track of, while it may seem overwhelming at first, once you get into the hang of it the game becomes much more of a thoughtful tactical battle rather than too much to handle. Though a little slow at first, getting the resources can be tough you are protected from attack for 7 days, so it gives you a chance to get there and once you do there is a tonne of gameplay waiting for you. With PvE, PvP and Crypts you never run out of battles, and there is a huge list of units for you to earn and control.
With a UI that is clean, and a simple battle system where the fights happen automatically based on the units you send and your overall Might you can just send off an army and carry on building or controlling your city. A game with a lot of depth to it this one really can keep you going for a long time, especially with a good clan to play with.
For a new game there is a lot of interest in Total Battle. You have some huge clans already establishing themselves in the game and there are a lot of new players joining too. With a dedicated website full of information and forums there are lots of places to communicate, as well as a live in game chat for your clan and kingdom. A lot of effort has gone into making this a real MMO style game, and you can see it throughout which gives much more of a communal sense than some others of the genre.
This is a really polished game, with a lot of nice artwork in some surprising places of the game. Effort has been put into the characters and the military units. The cities look pretty good and each unit and building type is really clear. The UI is neat and tidy, with easy to read icons and a manageable way of moving around. The music is soft and pleasant and the sounds of characters and battles roll out as you play.
A great game, with a lot of expectations this has a really great depth to it that will keep you going. The clan structure and chance to become a king give a lot of replayability and the research trees are huge and motivating too. A fun game with some decent strategic decisions despite the slightly slower pace this is a good game overall and has a lot going for it.
