Summary

Storage Hunter Simulator is a simulator where you play as an up-and-coming storage hunter. Hunt down collectables and vintage items at low prices and flip them for a profit! Expand your business empire by acquiring pawn shops, upgrade your tools and vehicles, and improve your lifestyle by buying bigger and better homes. Will you be able to work your way to the very top?

Plotline

In this game, you get to create your own rags-to-riches story. Starting off living in a trailer home and driving a mini pickup truck, you’ll gradually improve your lifestyle by purchasing bigger and better homes and vehicles. There isn’t much story here, even for the collectors who you’ll supposedly be giving away your valuable finds for free.

Gameplay

The gameplay loop in Storage Hunter Simulator is grindy but in an addictive kind of way, much like how players would spend hours grinding to level up a skill in Runescape. The loop mostly involves signing up for auctions via the tablet and heading to various storage bidding sites within the time period indicated to bid on the storage that’s up for auction. Note that you can only sign up for one auction at a time.

Naturally, before you do so, you’ll want to eyeball the space inside to get a general idea of how much the items within that storage are worth so you can bid accordingly. During the bid, you can decide how much more you’d like to bid to speed up the bid a little. If you have the final bid, then you’ll win that storage space and everything that’s in it.

This is where the gear shifts in the gameplay, and things can get a bit more laborious. To start, you’ll want to separate anything you can potentially sell from the “trash” by using the super convenient Instant Sell option. And don’t worry! This option won’t appear for items that you can sell at the pawn shop for a bit more cash.

Then, you’ll use the Verification tool to scan and verify the items to get a price and a status on the condition of the item. There are lots of items to “verify”, and there’s a neat way to track what you’ve discovered and what you’ve not. At the start, you won’t be able to do much except to just sell the items you get “as is”, but as you progress, you will get a multipurpose fixing tool that can fix any damaged items, so you can flip them for a higher price.

Similarly, you’ll also get to buy a lockpick tool that gives you a chance at opening locked chests. However, there’s always a risk of failure, and if that happens, your only resort is to visit the locksmith. Naturally, by upgrading this tool, you’ll have a much better chance of opening a lock without breaking it.

Once you have the goods, it’s time to sell. At the beginning, you’ll be hauling most of the stuff to the pawn shop. It can take multiple trips, especially if many of the items are huge, and well, it does take quite a bit of skill to try to pile on as much stuff as you can into your vehicle just so you can save on the number of trips, and by extension, on gas. Of course, as you progress, you’ll be able to afford a larger and potentially better vehicle, which may make this step of the gameplay a bit less tedious. It may take a while, but you’ll eventually earn enough to buy your first pawn shop. You’ll then be selling your finds directly to customers, completely cutting out the middleman.

Some items you’ll find are collectibles – they are clearly marked as such - and are highly sought after by collectors. There are several of these collectors, each looking for a different category of items, scattered across the map, and the list of items they are looking for changes every week. Each item contributes towards a “grand prize”. Due to this, it’s always a good idea to keep any collectibles you may come across just in case. You can do so either in the back of your truck or in warehouses – though those have limited storage space.

Now, the game has a map containing multiple towns and cities, each containing its own auction site, experts, homes that you can buy, and shops. You’ll have access to all of them right from the start, but due to the location of your starter trailer home and the fact that the rest of the map is connected via bridges and is a distance away, you’ll likely be grinding for cash in Blueberry Village before making your way to other towns. Every bid you win will earn you renown in that specific town. Leveling up renown will, in turn, unlock new upgrades such as new vehicles to buy or even the option to purchase a new home.

As fun as the game can be, Storage Hunter Simulator stayed true to the typical simulator genre in the sense that the early game can oftentimes be quite a pain to go through. The grind is super real here, and this is coming from someone who has sunk hundreds of hours grinding for gear, skill level-ups, or crafting materials in various MMOs over the years. The profit you’d get can be razor-thin at first, and you’ll really need to be efficient in your flipping skills to net a profit. Of course, things might go a bit easier for you if you chose to play in Easy mode rather than in Normal or Hard modes.

Anyway, here’s a tip for you – just max out your loan right from the start and pick a reasonably long installment plan to repay the loan. Yes, this will mean that you’ll be in debt, but the benefit you get from spending that loan on vital tool upgrades – trust me, get that repair tool sooner than later! - is compounded. You may find yourself paying off the loan in advance and still be in the green much faster than someone who is still grinding their way to their first $1000 profit. That said, you can only take out one loan at a time, so if you need to take out a loan, just take the maximum allowed – there’s no point taking out a $500 loan only to find yourself needing another $500 the next day.

The trick to earning a lot of money in the early game is to simply be lucky enough to find rare items that are worth hundreds. Even after deducting all the expert and shipping costs, you’ll still make a tidy profit. You can actually sell off some of the stuff you have in your trailer home to get some extra cash to give yourself a much better head start… after all, some of the items in your trailer can be pretty valuable (wink).

There are also some glitches that can be frustrating, such as the bidding glitch, which I’ve personally encountered multiple times during my playthrough, where the option to start a bid vanished, and the only way you can get yourself out of that pre-bid stage is to exit from the bid. Unfortunately, once exited, you can’t rejoin the bid.

Although the game may look realistic, the physics here are anything but. There are times when a small item, like a baseball, can easily push away a much larger and supposedly heavier item, like a closet, from the back of my truck. There are several visual/asset glitches too, like items phasing through supposedly solid objects, in mid-air, or bouncing around on invisible springs. These are actually pretty common in simulators, so I guess this game gets a pass as well.

Community

Due to the effort needed to make meaningful progress in this game, it’s great that Storage Hunter Simulator comes with a multiplayer co-op mode where you can work with up to three friends to say hit multiple auctions at the same time and earn money that much faster. There’s even an amusement park in the game where you can shoot the breeze with your buddies and play some fun mini-games.

Graphics/ Sound

Storage Hunter Simulator uses a semi-realistic, functional visual style that balances believable environments with lighthearted, slightly exaggerated design elements. The storage units, vehicles, and auction settings look grounded and utilitarian, with detailed interiors that convey abandoned garages and cluttered lockers you’d expect at real-world auctions.

In terms of sound, the game comes with a really good selection of tunes you can listen to while you’re driving around. Interestingly enough, there’s no real dialogue in this game. Instead, the characters speak a kind of gibberish language during bidding that can be kind of funny.

Conclusion

Storage Hunter Simulator offers a compelling simulation of the competitive auction world that fans of economic strategy and treasure-hunting games will enjoy. The core loop of bidding, discovering items, and managing a growing business provides a satisfying progression that rewards both skill and risk-taking. While some aspects may still be polished or expanded over time, the game’s foundation delivers an engaging mix of strategy, exploration, and entrepreneurial growth.
