Gameplay
Solitaire Arena is very simple to play. It has user friendly interface and an easy-to-understand guide to get you started. Being essentially a Solitaire game, the basic rules of Solitaire still applies in this game. In fact, it is very much like the Solitaire game provided for free on Windows operating systems. Anyone with a basic knowledge of Solitaire can start playing in no time at all, but to become a pro in this game, well, you will still need plenty of practice.
Basically, your objective in this game is to complete the sets of cards (Diamonds, spades, clubs and hearts) in ascending order (starting from all the aces) on the top foundation. You have to uncover the cards underneath the pile by moving your cards (by dragging and dropping the cards) and the cards must be placed in such way that the colours (red or black) are alternating. Furthermore, there is also a deck of cards on your top left corner of your game interface – this is the place where you can draw cards and move them onto your board to complete your set of cards. The great thing about Solitaire Arena is that instead of having to manually move the cards from your board to the foundation, you can just right tap a card and send it to its place!
This is where the similarities end. Unlike normal Solitaire whereby once you get stuck (no more available moves), you will be forced to end the game - in Solitaire Arena, you can click on the Magic Wand to get you out from these problematic situations. These wands can be bought with real money once you’ve run out of them or you could wait until the next day to get your daily free wands. There is also a “Hint” button that you can use when you have no idea what to do next. However, hints will take some time to regenerate, so you mustn’t waste your hints unless you are certain that you are stuck.
Moreover, Solitaire Arena takes the fun to another level by allowing players to challenge and play against each other in solo matches or tournaments rather than just playing against the machine or against your previous high score. Player-vs-player (PvP) matches are usually judge depending on how fast you finish your sets of cards on the top foundation slot. Every card you sent to the foundation slot with a quick right tap will earn you 1 point. However, if you are faster than your opponent in sending that card to the foundation, you will earn an extra 1 point, raising your total points earned per card to 2. This PvP system employed in this game does make a simple game of Solitaire into a very challenging game as both players can easily overtake each other’s scores in their effort to win the game!
Since Solitaire Arena is linked to your Facebook account, you can also invite your Facebook friends for a friendly solo match. Though, if you were to choose the tournament/ world tour mode, you will be competing with 7 other randomly-assigned players to see who will reign supreme at Solitaire! In this mode, you will start your world tour in Constanta, Romania and slowly make your way across the world!
If you think you can handle the heat, why not go ahead and challenge the top Solitaire players from the world to a battle of Solitaire? You can easily find these elite players from the weekly leaderboard on your interface. The weekly leaderboard in Solitaire Arena is generally separated into 3 types – a leaderboard for only you and your Facebook friends, for your fellow countrymen (and women) and the other leaderboard includes players from every corner of the world, for easy viewing. Each type of leaderboard can be further separated into solo matches and tournaments.
