Summary

Line of Sight is a Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter that combines the elements of modern-day combat weaponry and psychic abilities that provide a whole new gaming experience aimed for both newcomers and veterans of the FPS genre. It features a lot of PvP game modes to provide better ways to enjoy a competitive match and a more casual PvE modes for those who wants to play alone or practice their skills. The game also features a weapon customization that allows you to equip your weapons with different add-ons.

Plotline

The story takes place in an alternate world where during World War II, Germany has been secretly created genetically-enhanced soldiers called Uber soldiers. However after the war ended, majority of the German scientists involved on the experiment has defected to the United States and secretly continued the project, it was then shut down after being exposed to the public in the 90’s, however the project was renamed and was continued to develop a drug called Agent-GX that enhances human psionic powers but can kill the host. A number of death row inmates were selected to test the drug and only 8 survived which are now called Psygens.

Gameplay

Line of Sight still has that familiar modern day shooter but added with elements of psychic abilities to provide a different style of FPS. Some may say it is the combination of Call of Duty and F.E.A.R. or Bioshock that allows players to use special attacks to take advantage in the match.

Starting the game will let you choose from the four avatars, these characters have certain backstories to help flesh out the lore in the game, but unfortunately these do not have any effects in your playthrough as there are no bonus effects when selecting any from them. You can change your avatar later by purchasing it at the item shop. The game also features a short tutorial to explain the basic controls, it has all the basics from your typical FPS games such as WASD movement, Shift for sprinting and Ctrl for crouching. It now features new controls for using Psychic abilities for offense and defense.

The Psychic abilities provide a new twist to the gameplay, though not mandatory you can use certain abilities to give you an advantage when competing. Your psychic abilities are labelled into two groups; offense and defense, defensive abilities helps you survive in the battle, some include the ability to go invisible or teleport at a short range, offense provides you with powerful attacks such as raining meteor showers or setting enemies on fire. Do take note that whenever you use a psychic ability, your health depletes to a critical point in which you cannot use your abilities.

There are different game modes available in Line of Sight, and these are catered to competitive and casual players. For those who are into intense competition, there are different PvP game modes to savour any competitive players’ appetite, there is the classic Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes, along with other game modes like Capture the Flag, Domination, Team Survivor, Search & Destroy or just the good old Free for All.

There the unique Crystal Boost mode that puts you in an area and must collect crystals scattered around the area, you can also earn crystal from fallen enemies that managed to gather crystal during the match. Single player has some interesting features, some of them include Bot Team Deathmatch and Defense mode. In Defense, you must survive a wave of enemies called Infectants that are invading your base and you must do all you can to stop their attacks.

The cool feature in Line of Sight is the weapon customization, it allows you to add special add-ons to your weapons to provide enhancements to your battles, adding a dot scope can help add a red dot in your aiming or putting a handle can improve your aim and recoil reduction. You can also equip your avatar with gear items that also boost your performance, and they can also change your appearance, however some items have durations so you'll need to purchase the items again once it expires.

Community

There are some active players in Line of Sight, so if you are looking for other players in matchmaking sessions, you’re in luck as you will get into a match after searching in a couple of minutes. There is also a Clan feature where other players can band together and form a group, here you can interact with other clan members to join their battles or just interact with them socially.

Graphics/ Sound

The visuals in Line of Sight is impressive, running at an Unreal Engine, it helps flesh out some of the details of the environment and characters where some of the flesh tones have nice details and lighting on it. The audio department may need some improvements such as the sound effects where the weapon noises are a bit loud and feels like they are just stock audio from other games. The music is okay as it helps add that action intense feel to the game.

Conclusion

Line of Sight offers a great looking game with an interesting twist to its gameplay. Those who are used to modern day combat games may enjoy this one thanks to the new psychic abilities and those who have high-powered PCs will enjoy this one as well. Though the sound effects may need some improvements, the overall presentation is really great, so if you are into any FPS games, you may want to give this a try.
