King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare is a highly competitive mobile MMO strategy game that’s set in the legend of King Arthur, where fantastical creatures like dragons exist. As the successor of King Arthur, you will not only have to prove your worth to your kingdom by protecting your people from monsters that roam the lands outside the castle walls and also from greedy invaders who are after your hard-earned wealth; you’ll also need to develop your empire and your army, and keep your pet dragon in check.
Mordred, King Arthur’s nemesis, refused to surrender his castle to the king despite being completely surrounded, forcing King Arthur and his most loyal knights, including yourself, to lead the kingdom’s army into a final glorious battle.
The battle was won, but at such a high cost – King Arthur sacrificed his life for this people.A successor needs to be appointed soon and who better to take up the mantle of a great king than you!
Aside from developing your empire and army, you’ll gradually uncover other side stories that help to drive the game’s main narrative forward, such as a dragon egg found at Mordred’s castle and the incident where Morgana stole King Arthur’s Will, fragmented it and scattered the fragments across the kingdom.
However, personally, the storyline in this game isn’t as immersive and most players likely skipped through most of the dialogues, focusing more on the end game which primarily consists of PvP.
King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare begins with a tutorial and an introduction where you’ll learn more about the story of the game as well as the how-to-play basics. Honestly though, if you have any experience playing any sort of MMORTS (browser or mobile) over the past few years, you should be able to easily get into the game. After all, it does have all the typical features of a standard, commonly-found MMO strategy game.
Basically, what you’ll need to do is to build up a strong economy by making sure you’ve built enough farms, sawmills and mines, and ensuring that they are all upgraded. These will ensure a steady flow of resources into your kingdom’s coffers, allowing you to use them for other building upgrades and recruiting troops for your army. Food, in particular, is also needed to keep your army well-nourished, and naturally, the more soldiers you have, the more upkeep you’ll have to cough up.
Aside from resources, the game also has other ways for you to either improve your hero, your troops or your kingdom. For instance, there are plenty of researches you can initiate at the university that will not only enhance your army, but also improve the resource production rate and even the speed of construction in your kingdom. Your hero also has access to a range of talents that provide significant amounts of boosts to damage, defense and other stats, which will come in handy during really tough fights.
King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare is a pretty balanced game when it comes to PvP and PvE, providing monsters of various levels for you to slay if you don’t fancy attacking other players. However, if you want to truly enjoy the game, PvP’s the way to go! Attacking other player’s castles can be quite entertaining, mainly because it really puts your strategic skills to the test and if you win, you can also gain a nice pile of reward for your efforts.
As mentioned, this game also allows you to hatch your own dragon who will then help you by providing passive boosts. Depending on which area of the game you’d like to focus on first, you can choose to upgrade the dragon’s Assault or Guardian skills to bump up the efficiency of these skills.
In terms of monetization, King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare is pretty heavily monetized, allowing spenders, or specifically “whales”, to pour real cash into the game to rapidly get ahead of the pack. There are packages you can buy, aside from premium currency, which contain resources, speed boosts, and more. By spending, you will also gain VIP points which will help you progress through the many VIP ranks. The higher you go, the more perks you’ll get.
Like all MMO strategy games, you are given the chance to join an Alliance once you reached level 5. I’d recommend you to sign up for one as soon as possible because this is a pretty crucial aspect of the gameplay. Being a fledgling kingdom, you are pretty prone to being attacked by higher level players and used as “resource farms”, and as such, it’d be nice to have someone else to get your back and discourage these plunderers from ever hitting your castles again. You can, in turn, contribute to the alliance to show your appreciation for their aid.
Graphically, King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare has one of the most impressive visual quality that I’ve ever seen in a mobile game. Everything looks so detailed and the color scheme used simply make every building in the game look absolutely fantastic. The background music and sound effects used in this game is amazing as well. They provide some form of immersion to the player, and frankly speaking, the music is just very nice to listen to.
In summary, King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare is a really enjoyable mobile MMORTS game that will keep you hooked for days on end. The game has everything that a strategy player would look for in a game, be it PvE or PvP. Plus, that’s not even including the game’s awesome graphics and sound. Despite not being a unique game, King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare is seriously fun to play and that’s enough of a reason for quite a lot of players to give it a try. You can try the game out too!
