Summary

Guns of Glory is a thrilling real-time strategy warfare game with a touch of rich RPG gameplay. It is a very comprehensive warfare strategy game with an intriguing plot of the battle between the Cardinal and Royal family during the Enlightenment era. In the game, players who are the rightful heir of the kingdom, have to build their own fortress to defend attacks from the Cardinal and form alliances to reclaim the kingdom and restore it to its former glory.

Plotline

With his alliance with the dark arts, the Cardinal has grown unstoppable for his lust for power. He killed the King and has taken over the Supreme Palace. He wants to claim the Crown of Destiny for himself. The kingdom is doomed to fall into his hands and yet there remains a glimmer of hope. You play as the fallen King’s secret twin brother, who has been locked behind the Iron Mask in the deep bowels of Bastille prison. The royal guardians have saved you from prison in the hope of reclaiming the kingdom from the Cardinal. After the escape, you intend to rebuild an old estate, gather resources and raise a powerful army with the help of the royal guardians to take back what is rightfully yours.

Gameplay

In Guns of Glory, resources and buildings are the fundamentals of the game. They are used to train troops, trade items, and upgrade your most powerful weapon – the airship. Some buildings that provide resources are built outside the estate, whereas other facilities are built within the wall. The resources are mainly food, minerals, and lumber which you can get by building lumberyards, farms, and mines. The lumberyards produce wood for your estate and the farms provide food for your troops. You can get silver and iron from mining. You can also get resources by sending your troops out to the wild to occupy a resource tile and gather resources, or destroy threats to loot items. Besides the resources building, hospitals and military tents are built outside the wall too. The hospital heals troops wounded in battle and the tent provides housing for your troops.

The ultimate goal of Guns of Glory is to train troops to build up a powerful army and subdue enemy alliances with your mighty forces. There are a few vital facilities for troops training. Stables, artillery foundry, barracks, and shooting range are the facilities where you can train different types of troops namely as cavalry, artillery, infantry and ranged units respectively. In order to train better or higher tier troops, you have to upgrade your building level. However, all the facilities need resources and time to build and upgrade. This process can be sped up using gold and speed ups, but they are not that easy to come by. You can get the speed ups by looting them from the hunts in the wild, but you can only purchase gold using real currency.

Building up your army alone is not sufficient to defend your fortress. You must upgrade your airship into the most fearsome beast and hire guards to increase the power of your kingdom. The airship can be upgraded in the airship dock. Your Lord level can be increased by increasing the strength of your troops and airships. You will get talent points whenever you level up. Those talent points are used to learn various skills that act as buffs to strengthen your troops and increase resource production. The materials needed can be looted from fighting pirates in the pirate showdown or hunt enemies. You can hire guards from the tavern through a gacha system, and you can appoint them to various positions in the estate. This will activate certain attribute benefits, which are based on the guard and his/her star level.

Guns of Glory features different types of battle modes that are accessible throughout the kingdom map. You can send troops to gather resources from the enemy farm, sawmill, and mines. You can destroy threats to loot various items including materials that are needed to upgrade the airship. You can also execute Intelligence Missions to upgrade your Peerage through the Estate Affairs of the map. The end goal is situated at the center of the map, whereby you have to retake the Supreme Palace from the Cardinal.

Guns of Glory is a MMO game that utilizes a guild system called alliances. Hence, you can team up with people from all over the world and seize the ultimate victory with your alliance to fight against Cardinal and defend against other players. You also get a lot of benefits such as unique buffs on your estate and troops and your alliance can help you to shorten the building time of the facility too. You can also initiate a rally to attack other kingdoms if you are a member of an alliance.

Graphics/ Sound

Guns of Glory is a 2D game with beautiful graphics, and would definitely appeal to players who love the theme of the Enlightenment era, especially the musketeers, mortars and airships. The character artwork is also well drawn with good detail and is worthy of a praise. The interface is quite clear and well organized unlike some RTS games that tend to cramp everything on the screen. On the other hand, the background music and sound effects are quite basic, but they fit the theme nicely.
