Awaken from your slumber, you are faced with a world that is in dire need of a savior, and not just any savior, mind you – the world needs a fruit warrior! To start playing, you’ll first need to select a character to play as. You are given 2 classes to choose from, either Sweet, a melee-looking class, and Tart, a caster-like class. However, there isn’t a huge difference between both classes once you’re in the game, so basically it’s more important to pick a gender you like rather than the class.
Like most browser MMORPGs, the game starts off by giving you a quick rundown of the gameplay and will eventually unlock new features as your character progresses. Oh and let’s not forget about the amazing beginner’s gift that you’ll get – a free temporary VIP pass, which is pretty crucial in helping you get a pretty nice head start in Fruit Warriors.
The premise of the game, being an MMORPG and all, revolves around its “campaign mode” dungeons called Scenarios and quests. Each stage in Scenarios has up to 3 stars for you obtain, and by getting all the stars on a map, you’ll get a bonus chest filled with goodies. Thankfully, there are no stamina or energy requirement for challenging a stage, so you’re free to replay levels as many times as you like. However, new stages will only be unlocked once you reached the required level.
Besides Scenarios, there are plenty of other dungeons that you can challenge as well once you’ve unlocked them. There’s the EXP dungeon where you can earn bonus upgrade materials and experience potions by spending some APs. Each EXP dungeon has up to 5 difficulty levels, ranging from Easy to Hell, and to unlock the higher difficulty, you’ll need to earn a 3-star rating for the previous difficulty level. There’s also a Boss Map where you can take on mighty demonic bosses solo or with other players in hopes of grabbing some amazing loot.
Battling fruit-hating demons is one of the key aspects in Fruit Warriors and you’ll be doing all the fighting through the game’s turn-based combat system. Although you are allowed to use auto-combat once you reached level 30, you’ll need to do things the “old fashioned” way at least for the first 29 levels - You’ll need to manually select the skill you want to use for your character.
There are 3 main types of skills in Fruit Warriors: The normal attack which will allow your character to generate Rage points, special attacks which will consumes Rage, and of course, your character’s unique Ultimate ability that requires a whole lot more rage but is definitely the most devastating attack you’ll have in your arsenal. It’s interesting to note that being the leader of a team of fruit-themed heroes, you’ll also get to leech some Rage points off the other heroes in your team to fuel your own attacks.
When it comes to combat, your Combat Power value is perhaps more important than the sequence of skills that you use. Combat Power or CP is a pretty reliable indicator of how strong your team of heroes is. Basically, if you aim to be one of the top players in the game, you’ll most definitely need to keep your CP up.
There are many ways to bump up your CP and one of the easiest method is by leveling up your heroes. To do so, you can involve them in fights, give them EXP elixirs or let them “exercise” (AFK leveling). Once they have reached the “level cap”, you’ll then need to evolve them to increase your heroes’ grade from... say, Uncommon to Rare. Your evolved heroes will not only get a stats boost; they will also gain new skills. Of course, if you can get new heroes to join your team, you should most certainly do so. Each new hero will bump your CP up by quite a bit. You just remember to deploy them into your team’s hero formation.
At level 17, you’ll unlock Equipments which is also a pretty vital contributing factor to your team’s overall CP. You can purchase new gear items using crystals and there are only 3 main ways for you to get these crystals – by fighting another player’s team at the arena, taking on the bosses on the Boss Map or by Praying (you can do it twice per day for free). Equipping your heroes with their shiny new items is one part of the equation – the other involves upgrading these items. You’ll need some special upgrade materials, such as Iron, the improve the grade of your gear, and those materials can be pretty hard to get since you’ll need to gather more crystals to buy them. However, the resulting CP increase will make all the hard work very much worth it... especially when you are suddenly able to faceroll over all of your opponents.
Furthermore, you’ll get your very first mount – an adorable kitten – at level 10. Despite its adorable looks, mounts contribute a huge part of your team’s CP as well and obviously, it’s important to it upgraded. However, unlike other games where the stat bonuses that each mount upgrade brings are randomly assigned, in Fruit Warriors, you can actually choose which stat (Attack, Defense or HP) you want to upgrade. It’s entirely up to you to decide if you want to keep the upgrades “balanced” or to skew it by upgrading only a single stat. Let’s not forget that with every major upgrade, your mount will change its looks too.
There are many other items that will add to your overall CP, such as Wings and Companions which are unlocked much later in the game. As long as you keep all of these items upgraded, you should be able to do well in Fruit Warriors. Still, if you want to bring your team to greater heights in this game, you might want to consider spending a bit of real cash to get yourself a VIP status. VIPs in this game are not only showered with extra rewards, they also get special stat-boosting attires and exclusive access to VIP dungeons where they can harvest even more loot. Honestly, the privileges attributed to VIPs in the game are very much worth the cost you’ll have to pay to get that VIP status in the first place.
The community in Fruit Warriors mostly gravitate around the many guilds available in the game and if you ask me, it is highly recommended to join a guild once you are able to do so.
I mean, why not? By being in a guild, you’ll not only get to attend guild-only events like the Fairyland event and Guild Wars; you can even obtain even more stats, which translate into a much higher CP, by redeeming bonus stats via the Guild’s Technology tab. Before you can do so, you’ll first need to show your loyalty to the guild by donating game or premium cash to get some Exchangeable Donation points in return. You can then use these points to buy extra stats or you can also spend them at the well-stocked Guild Shop.
Aside from the simply adorable graphics, mainly in the form of various fruit-themed warriors and mounts, Fruit Warriors should really be commended for its amazing choice of music. The soundtrack played in the main city is amazingly catchy and yet the soothing sounds of flutes help make the music calming at the same time. The combat music is very well-composed too, bringing to mind the explosive action in various combat scenes in anime TV shows.
Besides the game’s fun and one-of-a-kind theme, Fruit Warriors manages to infuse a very unique feel to its gameplay, making the game stand out from every other browser-based MMORPGs on the internet. The storyline may sound a bit cliché, but the game compensates it by providing fascinating background stories for each of the heroes in the game. Not to mention, with the many dungeons and PvP events that you can enjoy, the game will definitely be able to keep you engaged and entertained at all times. So, if you’re currently looking for a different kind of browser MMORPG, Fruit Warriors is a great game to try. Play it now!
