Faerie Solitaire Harvest Free is an intriguing, match-2-style solitaire game that’s set in a fantasy world filled with trapped faeries which you’ll have to save. I’ve played my fair share of solitaire games over the years, and somehow, this game still managed to utterly catch me by surprise… in a very good way. In addition to the crazily large number of levels available, it is very strategically-nuanced, focusing a lot more on getting a combo chain going, but still giving you an “out” if you do decide you just want to match some cards and forgo combos entirely.
How does it work? Well, similar to most match-2-style solitaire games, you’ll need to match two cards of the same value to remove them from the playing area. There’s also a deck that you can draw 3 cards from and use the cards from that deck to collect the ones on the board, but know that you only get 1 free deck re-deal provided that you managed to Ultimately, your goal is to collect all the cards on the board regardless of whether or not you completely clear out the cards in the deck.
As mentioned, I’d say combos are pretty much the core of the gameplay here in Faerie Solitaire Harvest Free. To start a combo, the two cards you’re going to match need to be of the same color – take note of the color of the numbers on the cards. Suits don’t matter here, but if you’re colorblind and will mistake red as black, you can always refer to the suits to know their respective colors as well.
Now, what truly makes the combo system in this game so unique is the fact that they come in tiers. Reaching higher combo tiers will naturally reward you with more game currency (called Pure) but there’s a catch – once you reach Combo Tier 1 which at the 7th combo threshold, you will lose your combo if you draw new cards from the deck.
The combo system is also intricately interwoven with the other game features in Faerie Solitaire Harvest Free. Not only will you be able to earn more Pures by keeping up your combos for as long as you can; you will also earn mana which will fill up the mana bar and subsequently grant you invaluable Wild Cards. These cards are incredibly useful since you can then use them to further extend your combo chains or to clear away the last few cards on the board and to complete a level.
There are tons of other ways to earn Pures in this game, so having enough of them isn’t exactly an issue in this game. You can, for instance, completely clear away the cards in your deck to earn a nice 2000 Pures bonus, or you could opt to avoid using any of the Wild Cards you’ve earned or even the Spare slot to get a few hundred extra Pures.
The Pures you earned isn’t exactly pointless either. Faerie Solitaire Harvest Free comes with a Spare slot where you can “hold” any card you want. However, you’ll need to pay the cost of using that slot. The more you use it, the higher the cost will go. I’m pretty certain you’ll need Pures for some of the other extra premium features in the game, such as pets, as well, but this is just an educated guess at this point.
Considering how strategic this game can be, it’s a very good game design decision to do away with time limits which often plague other solitaire games. You’ll essentially have all the time in the world to deliberate over your every move if you want to. In addition to its amazing gameplay, the game also offers some extra features for free, such as collectible lore, which will reveal more about the faerie world, and fun achievements.
As a free-to-play game, Faerie Solitaire Harvest Free surprisingly doesn’t force ads down your throat unlike many other mobile games that I’m sure you’ve had some bad experiences with. Instead, it offers a premium version which comes with a chockful of bonus features which will greatly enhance your gameplay experience, in addition to unlocking all the other worlds for you to explore and play solitaire in.
You’ll, for example, have access to its pet system, allowing you to hatch (you probably have noticed that you do sometimes pick up mysterious eggs as you play), collect and evolve numerous pets. There’s also a valor system which basically allows you to customize your game, making them more challenging and hence, earning you more lucrative rewards, as well as a talent tree which will grant you unique abilities depending on how you decide to invest your talent points.
Faerie Solitaire Harvest Free is a single-player game without a leaderboard system. However, the Faerie Solitaire series has been around for quite some time and it has its own community of avid fans.
For a solitaire game, the graphics here are simply astounding! Love the card art and the background images used for different locations. If you enjoy playing solitaire games accompanied with a gentle, relaxing tune, then you’ll definitely fall in love with Faerie Solitaire Harvest Free as well. There’s enough music variety here to keep things interesting.
So, to sum everything up, for a free-to-play game, Faeria Solitaire Harvest Free truly blows every other solitaire game out of the water. The game is not only a lot more strategic than your average solitaire game; it also comes with great art, an insane number of levels (especially if you decide to go premium), lots of nice little bonuses such as achievements and collectibles, and of course, if you go premium, you’ll get even more bang for your buck with an elaborate talent tree, many more worlds to play and explore, pets, and valors that you can use to activate challenges and obtain better rewards.
