Gameplay

At the time of writing this game is still in steam early access and may not have all of its features.

When you log into the game you are taken straight to the game select screen where you choose to play solo, duo or in a group. From there you join a que and drop into the combat zone as soon as there are 30 players ready. From there the battle begins.

There are lots of different parts of cover around, from trenches to buildings and small forests. It is now up to you to find as many weapons and pieces of armour that you can. There are bags scattered around that have specific loot in them as well as individual items. Simply pick up what you find and go with it to try and eliminate your enemies.

This is where it begins to get interesting, the map is pretty big and has a lot of fun places for yo to hide and ambush your enemies. There are vehicles you can commandeer to move around in, but they are not subtle which can be a disadvantage. Stealth is a good way to go and try to eliminate the enemies you see. There is a counter in the top right of the screen telling you how many players are left.

As you move around the safe zone of the map will also shrink, reducing the space and making the survivors bunch together more. These last few minutes are intense and a lot of fun, and there is no timer its really a game of hide and seek. This is where you need to have found some defensive gear as well as the better quality weapons and hope you can find them. There are lots of places to hide and some pretty good ambush spots here so beware.

The controls for Cuisine Royale are pretty simple, WASD to move, cntrl to crouch space to jump. Shoot with the left mouse and aim with the right. All in all a standard shooter set up, though at the moment there is no option to change it in the forthcoming full version there should be.

The developers have also stated that they intend to make a very accurate loot box system, where you get exactly what is listed on the box, and so build a much fairer and less gamble style system of improving your gear and loot pre and during the match. This is a way out there concept for some of these games and one we are really looking forward to testing.

Overall this is a really good looking game with a lot of promise. The early access is limited but gives you a real feel for what will be a stunning battle royale. With lots to do and the ever eternal hunt for that number 1 spot you are in for a great time here.

Community

What started out as a joke became a game because of the community reaction, so as you can imagine there is a strong bond between the game and its players. There is and has been a lot of feedback during the Steam early access, and it has led to a lot of discussion among the players. With lots of threads around the game too, and forums you have a lot of places to find info and talk about the game. Alongside the in game social aspects and team gameplay there is a lot of reward here if you like being social.

Graphics/Sound

Frankly, Cuisine Royale is a stunning game. Using the latest technology and a brilliant idea behind the game it looks amazing. The gameplay itself is crisp and clear, and the comedy value of the kitchen side gives the developer a lot of leeway and fun around the concept. All in all its amazing to play, and really really good looking game that just sucks you in.

Conclusion

This is a brilliant game, the battle royale theme with the comedy sideline is one that works really well. Even if the comedy is not for you the whole gameplay and styling of the game is intense and action orientated. A simply gorgeous game to play full of action and all the drama you could want from a royale you are in for a fun ride.
