Save the world one case at a time with the international agency known as The Bureau in Criminal Case: Save the World! Work with Jack Archer and his team of officers and forensic scientists to investigate scenes, analyze evidences and interrogate suspects and witnesses just so you can have enough evidence to put the right criminals behind bars. Do you have what it takes to become one of the best detectives The Bureau has ever seen?
The game opens with a simply first case that functions as a tutorial for the new players who have not played any of the Criminal Case games before, but for those who have, you should be able to breeze through it just to receive your first actual, and very high profile, case – investigating the death of the prince of Britain.
For veterans of Criminal Case, you should be insanely familiar with the gameplay in this spin-off. After all, this game is set-up as a way for experienced players to skip all the hassle – and trust me, it is a whole lot of hassle - needed to unlock this in the original game. It’s also great that you’ll be able to play 3 separate Criminal Case games, including the one before it – Criminal Case: Pacific Bay – all at the same time.
That said, the gameplay mainly includes heading over to various crime scenes to look for crucial evidences and other hidden objects. The items you’ll need to find are shown in the basic word form, and although you start off with only 6 items to find, as you accumulate more points to earn more stars, the difficulty of each scene will increase. In total, there are 5 stars per scene to earn and these stars are important as you’ll need them to perform certain analysis on the evidences you’ve collected.
These special analyses usually contain a mini-game that you can play, such as piecing stuff together or dusting for clues, and will grant you a small amount of energy as a reward. Naturally, the faster you complete the mini-game, the more energy you’ll get. Energy, in turn, is needed whenever you enter a scene, and if needed, you could always buy energy-replenishing snacks from the in-game shop. Stars are also needed to interrogate suspects and witnesses.
However, not all forensic aspects of the case will require a star to carry out. Some are simpler to do because you just need to start the analysis, wait for the process to finish and collect your results. If you can’t wait, the entire process can be sped-up using some premium Cash. At the end of the day, all the evidences, statements and clues you’ve gathered will be filed neatly into your case file which you can then refer to when the time to make an arrest comes around.
Making an arrest is pretty simple. All you need to do is to compare the specifics for each suspect with the evidences you’ve collected, and obviously, you should only arrest the person where all the details matched up. And yes, you’ll need a star to make the arrest.
The other features that we all know and love are also included in Criminal Case: Save the World, such as Lucky Cards which can then be turned in for freebies, police dogs that will only be unlocked once you’ve completed 2 cases at the Gold Medal level, achievement trophies, and more. Unfortunately, the stickers that had gotten quite the blowback when they were first introduced are here to stay. You can start filling up your sticker albums once you’ve completed a case at Silver Medal level.
Since almost every other aspect of the game is similar to the other Criminal Case titles, the most unique part in Criminal Case: Save the World is definitely the cases and the storyline. The game features a whole new cast in addition to Jack Archer who you might have known in the original game, and of course, considering that The Bureau is an international crime-fighting agency, the stakes a so much higher this time around.
Similar to previous Criminal Case games, you can receive and send gifts of energy. So, it’s in your best interests to add as many friends as you can. You can also recruit new friends to play this game and get a free 10 energy points in return when they install the app.
The art style used in this game stayed true to the Criminal Case series. The characters are drawn in a comic-like way, with all the exaggerated expressions and funny dialogues that we enjoy from the original Criminal Case game.
The scenes are all very well-drawn too but thankfully not in a comic-like fashion. It does make the HO a bit harder to find at times, though. The game is also backed by a nice yet dramatic musical score. It’s looped, of course, but it’s not at all annoying to the point where muting it becomes a blessing.
Criminal Case: Save the World offers Criminal Case fans the same old gameplay that they have known and loved for so long, and yet by separating out this part from the original game, players will be able to enjoy all the brand-new cases without needing to spend a whole lot of time on the previous parts.
