Summary

Blackshot Online is an MMOFPS which sets in a modern day world similar to games like Counter Strike, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor. Featuring a wide range of weapons to choose from as well as different maps to play and more than 5 games modes to participate, players can match up with other players in a lobby-based system where they can hop in or create their new match. Show those “noobs” what you’re made of and climb up the ranks!

Plotline

Set in a fictional futuristic Earth in the year 2033, where mankind was almost at a brink of extinction due to an all-out nuclear war when cloning has become rampant, cloning has become the new revolution in developing the ultimate weapon as the clone soldiers are expendable. However, the surviving population is starting to rebuild with the help of major corporations, but this also means the different corporations are on the race to rebuild the human clone soldiers for their ticket to supremacy.

Gameplay

The gameplay for Blackshot Online is very familiar, for those who have played any online first person shooters or even the newer triple A games will feel welcome with Blackshot Online as majority of the mechanics are quite similar, and even those who are new to the genre will have no trouble getting used to the system.

Starting off in the game, you will be prompted to pick a character type, there are two kinds of characters in the game with different gender. One of which is characters with better movement speed but at a cost of having lower health and defense. Defensive types are the tougher class with higher health but with slower movement. After picking your type, you will be prompted to a short tutorial tour to explain all the basic functions of the main menu, from where you purchase weapons to finding a match, it will highlight which icon to press and will show some brief explanation.

The controls are similar to the modern-day shooters, from the WASD keys for movement, spacebar for jumping and Ctrl for crouching, unfortunately there is no option for sprinting. The recoil on the weapons are weaker compared to other online shooters which can make it easy for new players to control their aiming. Swapping weapons is also available similar to games like Counter Strike, where have your main weapon, sub weapon, melee side weapon and grenades.

All matches are lobby based, so you just need to go to a match room of your desire and join the battle. Or you can just start your own match and adjust the game settings to your liking. You can choose which server is faster for your connection and you can hop to different servers at any time which makes it easier to play.

In terms of game modes, Blackshot Online has plenty of them, from the classic deathmatch and free for all matches for those simple “kill them all as many times as you can” objectives, there are also some mainstays from popular shooters like capture the flag and bomb planting matches for the more complex challenges. And for those who wants more of PvE battles, there is a PvE defense more where you must fend of incoming attackers from your base and prevent them from reaching the point or killing your entire team.

You can enhance your proficiency in weapons thanks to the weapon mastery system. Every time you use a certain weapon, you gain experience points to increase its proficiency, this means the higher your weapon proficiency goes, you can deal more damage and aim well with the certain weapon that you are more proficient at. Another cool feature is the Partner system, this allows you and your partnered allow to share their camera views to one another, this allows wider reconnaissance to provide strategic options when dealing with other players in matches.

Community

Blackshot Online has a healthy population of players, so you won’t be having a hard time finding a match with a lot of players. You can also add some of them to your friend list and get in touch with them for any scheduled matches or form up a Clan and challenge other players in Clan versus Clan bouts. If you are the competitive type, you can sign out for monthly tournaments or leagues for a chance to win cash prizes.

Graphics/ Sound

The visuals in Blackshot Online are a bit decent; nothing that is breathtaking but still pleasing to your eyes. The character models are very decent though there are some designs that are less detailed, the map layout is also decent though some parts in the map are very dull in terms of detail.

The audio department, on the other hand, is okay as it features voice dialogues for some shout outs and some convincing sound effects for the weapons, as for the background music, most of it are available in the main menu as you will only hear ambience noise when in matches to keep the players alert from incoming attacks and footsteps.

Conclusion

Overall, Blackshot Online feels like your ordinary modern day MMO shooter with a familiar gameplay and visuals. Fans of first person shooters like Crossfire and Special Force may enjoy this with a superior visuals and tighter controls while those who are used with Call of Duty may find this game a bit short from their expectations, but the game can still be entertaining thanks to the active players which can give you more matches to participate.
