Plotline

In the chaotic world of ArmyWars, classical governments are a thing of the past. It all started after the US president declared a war on Russia based on a tweet, resulting in the entire world falling into chaos. Governments on all continents have become divided due to their own views and opinions about the war.

At first, everyone wanted to remain neutral in this war but more countries were gradually dragged into it. As politicians and diplomats no longer agreed with each other while countries continue to descend into turmoil, militia units took the opportunity to take over governments. This resulted in a devastating chain reaction that changed the geopolitical landscape of the world forever.

Countries were divided and united in military alliances led by various generals. The only thing that did not change was the greed for wealth and power in mankind. Generals of various alliances are scheming to expand their territorial influence on the last remaining resource-rich land in the world. You are one of the generals who is fighting to survive the impending conflict, and remain independent. Securing more land that is rich in resources is, of course, still one of your ultimate goals...

Gameplay

ArmyWars is a strategy game that revolves around base and army building, and sending your army to battle. At the beginning of the game, you will be given a base and you will learn most of the mechanisms in the tutorial. At your base, you can build various buildings such as resource factories, a tank factory, a military and economic center, and a ministry.

There are a few resources you can produce in factories. The resources are cement, carbon, steel and fuel. Steel and carbon are used to produce units. Cement is used to upgrade your buildings. Fuel is used to move your units around the map. Your unit such as various types of tanks is produced in the tank or unit factory. The military center provides you military points that are needed to build more units. On the other hand, the ministry provides economy points that are consumed in upgrading your buildings.

Base defense is crucial aspect in ArmyWars as it is very important to protect your bases from invasion. It is highly recommended to upgrade your wall and Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) turrets as much as possible. Your SAM turrets will automatically attack opponents even when you are not online. Your base will fall when all of your SAM turrets are destroyed.

Other defense buildings such as detector, jammer, radar tower, and anti-air system also play a critical role in protecting your base. The detector will detect or expose cloaked enemy units. The jammer covers your base and a small area in front of your base in the fog, so that the enemy cannot see how much defense and how many units you have in your base. The radar tower increases the field of vision of your base for you and your alliance members. Anti-air system is used to shoot down any attacking airplanes or helicopters.

Attack units in ArmyWars are mainly tanks. Although you can build jets and helicopters, you will have to find a base with an airport and they are quite limited on each map. There are a few categories of tanks. Each of them has different attack strength, armor strength, specializations, attack range, and visibility. Light or spy vehicles have weak armor and fairly low attack strength. However, they cost the least resources and time to produce. Spy vehicles are well suited for spying and scouting out areas that cannot be seen and the enemy bases.

There are heavy tanks and anti-base tanks too. The heavy tanks have higher weapon range and strong armor, while the anti-base tanks are specialized in destroying base defense. Anti-base tank is the only tank that can take down SAM turrets of an enemy base. Other special vehicles include a general transporter that is used to take over empty bases, a PPRU detector that detects cloaked units and makes them vulnerable to attack, and a fox jammer that is a mobile radar jammer. You can produce tanks as long as you have enough resources. It is imperative to use your resources wisely so that you are fully prepared for the next battle, either offensively or defensively.

Community

In ArmyWars, you will be assigned to an alliance on your map automatically when you first get into the game, but you can change it any time. You can create an alliance too if you leave an existing alliance. Fighting a war alone is hard, you can send the coordinates of enemy alliance base to your alliance private chat and gather your alliance members to conquer enemy bases. The ultimate goal of the game is to take over the whole map together with your alliance and to push the enemy alliances to other maps.

Graphics/ Sound

ArmyWars is a 2D real-time strategy game with a neat interface. You can view the number of your resources at the top left corner. The mini-map at the top right corner is very useful for player to locate own bases, enemy bases, and alliance bases. They are marked with different colors. The control is pretty simple. Players only need to move their units across the map by selecting their desired units and clicking on the destination, then they will all move automatically. The sound effect is not bad, and there is a variety of background music so the game does not feel stale quickly.
