Gameplay
Once you add in your username and choose a server you are right into the action. There is no real need for a guide, you just follow the quick on screen instructions and the rest is up to you. To gather wood and stone you just run up to it and left click. Once you have gathered a few to begin with you can drop your gold storage. This will begin you base and to spawn the waves of zombies.
Once you have that built you open up a range of other buildings, for resources you have gold mines and harvesters. The gold fuels the harvesters, and the gold from mines is used for a huge range of upgrades. You can have 8 gold mines active and 2 harvesters. You also can just run around and farm as many materials as you can, it is just much safer to do so in the daytime.
There are a variety of towers that you can use to defend your base from crosbows to mages and cannons there is a weapon for you. Each tower costs a certain amount of materials, and they can be upgraded to do more damage. There are also walls, gates and slow traps that you can use to herd the zombies. A variety of different weapons is the way to go, as just using one single type may not be fast enough or enough damage to get you through the waves.
Once night falls the zombies attack, as you complete waves the zombies get bigger, tougher and have weapons with which to try and beat you. The towers damage them and they rush at you from different directions. You can also bash the zombies yourself with your pickaxe or one of the available weapons. Once a wave has been defeated you get a small respite until the next arrives, or daybreak comes whichever happens first.
Your gold can be used to upgrade your pickaxe to ram more resources, but better weapons and upgrade your towers. There are also spells that you can use to heal your towers for a short period of time. The gold is a very powerful resource so keeping 8 mins up is a good idea.
You are free to put the buildings wherever you want, you can run around the map to find your perfect spot and then go from there. There are a variety of tactics you can use, from funneling your enemies into the melee towers or keeping layers of walls between them and your cannons. With a huge amount of different tactics you can experiment and see how far you can get through this really fun game.

With a lot of advice, options to work together base plans there is a wealth of information out there. This promotes a lot of discussion and people using the groups system to try and beat the top scores.
Graphics/Sound
Deceptively simple the game is really cute. You have a top view over the map and simple shapes that define the area around you. Sure this game is 2D but it does not need to be anything special to be good. As you can see the game shows you everything you need to see as well as providing a massive amount of gameplay and replayability. With its clean design and circular feel it is a cute looking game that is easy on the eye.

In a nutshell, Zombs.io is a great game. Though its looks are simple and it sounds like there is nothing to it you are in for a surprise.
