Summary

Queen of Dragons is a browser MMORPG that will set you off on an epic journey where you’ll get to harness the darkness to supercharge your abilities and use the power it gives to free the world from Lord of Darkness and the demons of the dark legion. Featuring an almost-fully automated, casual-like gameplay and tons of activities to do, the game is designed to keep you engaged from start to end-game.

Plotline

The storyline in this game seems to be an amalgam of the most popular tropes and themes used in most RPGs. Although all the text is in English, it is obvious that the translation is done poorly, making it rather hard to really understand what’s going on most of the of time.

Anyway, this is what I’ve gleaned from playing the game. The story starts off with you diving head first into the battle between the Norse gods and the Lord of Darkness and his dark legion. The battle is taking place in the temple in the heavens, and you’ll have to travel there before you can fight.

On your travels, you uncovered a small glimpse of what had turned the once-beautiful world into the nightmarish landscape that it now is. Apparently, the world was hit by a shower of meteorites which are essentially the “transport vehicles” of the minions of the Lord of Darkness, known as the Dark Legion. The world was also enveloped by the darkness in the process.

Unlike the potential heroes in the game, you rise up above the rest mainly because you have this unique ability to internalize the darkness and make use of its powers by transforming into a powerful demon-god hybrid without corrupting your mind or soul, converting you over to the “dark side”.

This is an ability that’s truly rare as evident during your adventures when the darkness took control of the dragon of the burning flame before you freed it, and corrupted the soul of the dragon girl as she was held prisoner in the darkness for quite a long time before you bust her out.

So, basically, you’ll spend the entire game helping everyone, be it the night elves, the dwarves or even Gandalf himself, battle the dark legion and/or freeing them from the clutches of the darkness.

Gameplay

To begin your adventures, you’ll need to first create a character. You can play as either a male god or a female goddess. There’s no character class in this game, nor is there any character customization. It’s a browser MMO, after all!

Like most browser MMOs, Queen of Dragons automates most of the more tedious part of its gameplay. This includes auto-pathfinding for quests, auto-combat for battles, and there’s even an auto-equip option whenever you gained a new piece of gear that’s much better than your existing item.

Needless to say, you don’t really need to spend a lot of your time or attention in the game – you simply need to leave it on and it’ll play itself for you. All you need to do is to check in now and then and upgrade your gear. Upgrades are important since they will decide whether your character will be strong enough (high Battle Power/BP rating) to take on tougher monsters and bosses later on in the game.

Thankfully, there are multiple ways you can improve your character’s BP. You can enchant the gear you have or embed gems via forging; you can upgrade your skills, and you can increase your stats. There are other items you can upgrade as well, namely your mount, your female dragon companion, your divine weapons, and more. There’s also a dragon mount that you can fly around with from time to time in the game, but there’s currently no way for you to upgrade it.

Queen of Dragons is primarily a PvE game and as such, there are tons of PvE activities and events for you to play. If you love boss fights, there are plenty of them for you to enjoy. You can battle bosses alone or together with other players. There is a wide variety of instances as well. The Queen’s Instance and the XP instance, for example, lets you fight demons and monsters in waves.

On the other hand, PvP isn’t something the game focuses on since you’ll only unlock your first PvP battle, the Cross-Server Battle, after you hit level 68.

As a freemium game, Queen of Dragons provide spenders with a ton of ways to gain an advantage, be it by purchasing the game’s premium currency, Topaz, and then spending that in the in-game store for upgrade materials and whatnots. You can also purchase a VIP status by buying an aristocracy, or noble, cards. They come in three forms - diamond, sapphire, and topaz, and naturally, the higher you go (Diamond is the best card), the more attractive perks you’ll unlock.

Community

Like many browser MMORPGs, Queen of Dragons offers many social features, allowing players to interact with others while playing the game. The most important being the guild system. By joining one, you’ll have access to a host of guild-only features, including guild quests, instances, and battles, but in return, you’ll be expected to contribute guild resources regularly and be an active player.

Graphics/ Sound

For a browser game, the graphics in Queen of Dragons is pretty amazing. It may not be as sharp and crisp as… say a mobile game, but it’s still nice enough. Personally, I really like the art style used here. The various soundtracks used here are rather phenomenal as well. The only problem I have with them is that they are too short and when looped, they sometimes sound like a broken record.

Conclusion

All in all, Queen of Dragons may not have the best graphics around, but it’s a really decent browser MMORPG to play. It’s designed to be played casually since most of the gameplay is automated, making it perfect to play on the side while you’re watching videos on another screen.
