Build houses, invite more people to live in your city, keep them entertained with different amusement structures, increase your food supplies by harvesting crops in your field and even expanding your entire city. There is nothing deep with Lily City in terms of storyline. You are put into the role as Mayor of your own city, and your job is to keep your citizens happy and grow your city into the biggest and best. Since the game is more on city building, it has a light hearted feel to make it more appreciated by casual players.
Lily City is your standard city building game. For starters, players need to build houses for the citizens in their cities, once there are enough houses, players can earn money from houses as citizens will pay their dues to the city. You can then create business buildings to earn money from the citizens, but establishing business buildings will require the consumption of Goods. To create more Goods, you need to plant crops in your field and then harvest them. Some food crops provide more amount of Goods but will require longer time to complete, you can hasten the production time by spending real money on these crops.
Constructing buildings is different as it does not have any countdown timer for it to be full completed. Players are required to click on the structure to start the construction. Certain buildings may require higher amount of construction points to be complete and each construction point consumes one Energy.
You will also need to clear out any obstacles around the area if you plan to construct more buildings in your area, giving you more space to complete your dream city. The more houses you build, the more people will go to your city, and there will be times that you will be experiencing overpopulation in your area. To remedy this problem, you will need to construct community and entertainment buildings, this increases your maximum population, allowing you to bring more people and to earn more money.
All of the things that you do in Lily City requires energy, they can be replenished over time or purchased with real money. Every action you made in the game will grant you certain amount of gold and stars which is needed to increase your level. When you level up, your Energy will be fully restored and you will received bonus gold and other surprise items that can help decorate your city.
As your level progress, you will unlock more content for your city that will enhance its production, you will also be able to increase the city size by spending a large amount of money, giving you more space to add more buildings.
You can also acquire objectives or quests throughout the game where you must accomplish certain tasks and be rewarded with gold, stars and items. The objectives are also a good way to teach new players the basics of the game, from building structures to adding friends to their list, if you got stuck in a certain objective, you can buy yourself out from the dilemma buy paying with real money to complete certain objectives.
Since Lily City is more of a CityVille clone, expect an oversaturated market where there are tons of city building games that are identical to one another, this as a result would cause fewer players to try the game. But in terms of multiplayer features, you can invite your Facebook friends to try out Lily City or even add your friends who currently playing the game as one of your city neighbors.
Doing so will let you visit their cities and help them in gathering coins and inviting tourists to their city, with this you can earn reputation points that will improve your bond with your friend in the game. Increasing the reputation level will grant you better gold drops and bonus items. You can also open franchises to your friend’s town, this allows you to earn Gold coins from your friend’s city, but your friend must approve the request before you can successfully construct a franchise building there.
Similar to any city building clone games, Lily City features a 2D isometric view of the city, with each structure and units has its own theme and personality. You can zoom into the buildings to see them close up, though they are not that highly detailed as you might expect. Music is mediocre as it only has one music track that is in infinite loop. Good thing you can disable the music if you are tired of the same song.
Though the game may be fun for casual players who wants to use some of their extra time. Lily City is just similar to any other city building game, it lacks any unique features to make it stand on its own. But if you are looking for something the same, you can always try out Lily City.
