Match 3 or more charms together by dragging and pulling entire rows or columns, complete each level’s objectives and move on to the next level. Rack up your score points with multipliers, a ton of boosters and the exciting Final Blast round at the end. Do you have what it takes to defeat the evil witch once and for all?
In terms of gameplay, Fairy Quest is what I’d consider as among the newer forms of match-3 game where you are required to match 3 or more charms by moving entire rows or columns as opposed to swapping 2 charms on the board. This also means that in this game, you can actually make multiple matches with only a single move. However, similar to the conventional match-3 gameplay formula, you won’t be able to make a move if the move doesn’t have at least a single match in it.
The game is also a multiplier-based game. This basically means you can earn and accumulate bonus multipliers simply by making matches, which will definitely play an important role when it comes to completing your level objectives faster and with far fewer moves.
Special bonuses come into play if you managed to get a match-4 ot match-5 as well. For match-4s, charms on each end of the match will be granted a +3 multiplier, while the bonus effect for match-5s is even better – you’ll get to collect all the same charms as the match you just did from the board.
Since the game’s a match-3 puzzle game, you are given limited number of moves per level which you will have to use strategically and wisely. If not, you might not be able to complete the level! However, if you do scrimp and save your moves, by the end of a successful level, any remaining moves you may have will be used up in an exciting bonus round called the Final Blast. Here, you’ll get a ton of extra score points due to the brilliant “match cascade” effect.
Similar to most match-3 games out there, Fairy Quest offers a wide variety of obstacles to increase the level of challenge in the later levels. One of the more common obstacles include the immovable Fairy Tiles. The charms in the rows or columns containing any of these Tiles can still be moved – it’s just that this particular Tile will not budge no matter what. Thankfully, you can still clear the tiles away simply by making matches nearby. Fairy Tiles can also be stacked and in the later levels, you’ll encounter tiles that will require multiple matches before you can clear it completely from the board.
Aside from Fairy Tiles, there are also the troublesome Mud. Unlike Fairy Tiles which will occupy a charm’s spot on the grid, Mud is a tile that primarily reside in the background of the playing field. However, this doesn’t mean you can simply ignore them. These obstacles may sometimes even be among the required level objectives in order for you to proceed to the next level, so you’ll need to pay attention to the objectives you’re given whenever you enter a new level. That said, you can clear Mud tiles away by making matches on top of them.
Of course, there are plenty more tougher obstacles that await you as you advance through the levels in the game, and as annoying and frustrating as some of them are, the varying obstacles and objectives do make each level more enjoyable.
Having trouble solving a certain level in Fairy Quest? Well, you needn’t worry - You can buy boosters to help you out of tight spots in this game! There are many boosters that you can buy and use, including items like the Magic Stick which collects a charm of your choice from the board or the Harvester which collects an entire row of charms.
There are also “extra moves” boosters which admittedly are literal lifesavers since it will cost you a life to play a level regardless of whether you win or lose. Naturally, you wouldn’t want to waste a life on a level, especially not when you could have won if you use a booster. Although you are only allowed to equip up to 5 different boosters per game, you won’t lose your boosters if you don’t use them. So, it’s better to be safe than sorry and make sure you bring along as many boosters as you can just in case you really need them in a game.
Fairy Quest has a Facebook App Page and that’s where most players congregate to get in touch with the developer or with like-minded individuals who love playing match-3 games like they do. If you need help with a level, you can try asking on the game’s Facebook page as well.
The quality of graphics in Fairy Quest is nothing short of astonishing... even for a casual match-3 puzzle game on Facebook or on mobile devices. Of course, the quality visuals are matched with quality audio consisting of primarily an inspiring background music and amazing sound effects.
To sum it all up, Fairy Quest is a fun and entertaining, Snow White-themed match-3 puzzle game that has utilized a pretty rare and unique gameplay mechanism whereby players have to drag entire rows or columns of charms to make their matches. The variety of boosters and obstacles along with the game’s many levels also guarantee its players hours after hours of fun. If you’re looking for a different match-3 game to play, Fairy Quest is definitely a good candidate that we’d recommend. Do give it a try!
