Published by Proficient City, DD Tank is a cutesy artillery game that not only allow players to battle one another in its Arena PvP mode, but also play in the game’s many PvE-based campaigns and dungeons. The game also has a character customization aspect, which is rarely found in games of this genre. Players can improve on their Combat Power (CP) by equipping better gear or simply upgrading equipped ones. There are tons of fun cosmetic items to wear too!
To begin, you’ll need to first create your character. Character creation is really simple in DD Tank – you just need to choose either to play as a male or a female, input your username and you’re ready to start lobbing bombs.
If you’re not very familiar with artillery games, you may find its gameplay slightly tricky to get into. Don’t get me wrong – the controls themselves are easy enough to learn. Once you go through the tutorial, you should already know them well enough to do some serious damage.
Basically, you’ll use the left and right arrow keys on the left side of the screen to move your character at the cost of stamina. You will use the up and down keys on the adjust your projectile’s angle, and when you’re ready, you can press and hold the Launch button on the right to get the indicator on the Forcebar to begin moving. You will then need to try to get the indicator into the blue area before releasing the button.
Sounds easy enough right? However, what the game doesn’t let you know is that you don’t always have the blue indicator to guide you. In these situations, you’ll need to know how to estimate the “force” you’ll need to hit your enemies. Also, once you get out of the tutorial stages, you’ll realize that the game only gives you a few seconds (around 10) to do whatever that you need to do before pressing the launch button. If not, you’ll automatically be forfeiting your turn.
Having good aim is good and all, but it’s equally important to know which “power-ups”, or “tools” as the game calls them, to invest your stamina in. You’ll get 250 stamina in this game and as the game’s combat is turn-based (obviously), your stamina will be refilled every new round. There are several tools you can use, including “double damage”, “50% more rage” and “3x projectiles”, and usually, you can use at most two of them at the same time.
What is “Rage” though? Well, it’s a form of points that you can get by dealing damage. The rage you get will fill up a Rage Orb next to your Launch button. When it’s full, you can then use your ultimate skill that’s aptly named “Deadly Skill”. You can even teleport your character to a better position if you activate the Teleport tool.
The game also allows you to bring along up to 8 “Skills”, which include self- or group-healing skills, aiming guide, and more. These skills can only be used once per game, unlike the Tools we’ve mentioned earlier, and they usually cost quite a bit of stamina.
Aside from these nuances during combat, you can also improve your character just so he or she can deal more damage with every “accurate hit” scored. This includes equipping your character with the best gear you can get. The gear can even be upgraded and socketed with gems. Eventually, you’ll adopt a pet that can further bolster your overall CP rating.
What makes DD Tank truly unique among artillery games is that fact that it caters to both PvE and PvP players. You can play cooperatively with other players in the game’s many challenging dungeons and boss fights, or you can duel others in its PvP Arena. There is even a survival mode where you and your team will have to weather through multiple waves of enemies.
There are plenty more features that you can gradually unlock as you play the game and level up, such as marriage (yes, you can get hitched in the game). Since the game has PvE activities, you can also play DD Tank while you’re offline. However, you’ll need to first reach level 8 before you can access the game’s Offline Login function.
As DD Tank has a guild system, it’s best to join one as soon as you can. Most middle-tiered guilds allow instant joining, so your application will be accepted the moment you apply to join… or you can just create one of your own – whichever that rocks your boat.
Being in a guild comes with numerous advantages, such as access to special, Guild-only events like Guild Battle and Guild Boss, and also the Guild Shop. You’ll be expected to contribute to the guild when you can. You’ll then be rewarded with Contribution points that you can then spend on the Guild Shop to buy upgrade materials and the like.
DD Tank is a cutesy game and as such, it’s not surprising that the game plays a very catchy and cheerful music in the background. The high-quality graphics look amazing as well. I particularly like how adorable the little characters are, especially the cute “crying” animation that happens whenever they get hit by a projectile.
All in all, DD Tank is an incredibly fun artillery game with an adorable cartoonish theme. The game does well to cater to both PvE and PvP players with its many game modes, and this is perhaps one of the reasons why the game is amazing popular among mobile gamers. So, if you’re a fan of cutesy artillery games, you’ll definitely want to check this game out. DD Tank is free to play and is available on both PC (browser) and mobile.
