Cabal 2 is a beautiful MMO set in a realm of fantasy. With some of the best elements of a browser game presented in a stunning downloaded game full of great features there is a lot to enjoy. With 6 classes to choose from and lots of dungeons to find you will have plenty to do in this fun game.
The magical world of Ektensia is full of wonder and beauty. But also danger and monsters abound outside of the cities. Your little sister is a promising magic user and as you are with her a mysterious figure arrives and takes her from you. You searched for years and end up on the old continent and sign up as a mercenary to aid your search. Now you are at the beginning of your adventure and ready to find your lost sister.
When you open the game you are taken to the character creation screen. Here you can pick from one of 6 classes and begin to create your avatar. The classes available are: Warrior, Wizard, Priest, Force Shielder, Force Blader and Force Archer. Each of these classes fills a unique role within the usual mmo style of DPS, Tank and Healer. Once you have your class it is onto customize their look and there are lots of options for you.
When you settle on a look you are taken to a cutscene where you see your sister being taken and then where you sign up as a mercenary. Then you begin your adventure with a quest, and as you would expect in an mmo this is the first of many. The quests are slightly different that that they have phases, go here, do this kill this all within 1 quest. These quests reward items money and xp.
Your experience counts towards your overall level, and the higher your level the more abilities you can use. These abilities are mostly for combat but there are some utility ones too allowing for movement or escape. Your abilities can also be part of a combo which we will talk about later. Many of your abilities also have ranks, the higher your rank the more damage it will do. Some items also grant certain useful skills too.
One of the better features of the game is the quest tracking. Like in a browser game you can auto run to where you need to complete your quest, but then you are still in control of your character there is no autoplay feature. Once you arrive you will need to find the items or kill the monsters yourself.
The combat system is quite dynamic and fast paced. You use the tab key to swap between targets and your abilities can be placed in the number action bar. Once you target your enemy you use your skills in real time and each class features it’s own abilities tailored to its role. When your enemy is dead you can easily loot using the F key and you can get useful items, junk to sell and your quest items.
As we mentioned there is a combo system in Cabal 2, which allows you to pump out a lot of damage or pull of a super healing ability. These combos work with certain skills and they unlock over time. You do get one pretty early in the game and you can see the different combo options under the skills tab on your character sheet. These allow for a lot of different skill levels in the game and if you get them right they can make the difference for you and your party.
Towards the end game you have a lot of different options. Small group dungeons and bosses. Full raids and of course a lot of PvP as well. As you would expect these also give you the best items in the game tailored to either PvE or PvP depending on what you do.
Another popular browser game feature is the upgrade of items. The game features a couple of different ways to personalize your equipment. There are power gems that slot into weapons and have certain stats, such as damage, crit or extra healing. There is also the option to upgrade items at the cost of resources. These upgrades add to the item level and can be very powerful, but there is a risk that the item will not be improved but you still lose the materials you put in.
This being an MMO you will also encounter other players, and you have the option to group up for area quests, boss, dungeons and raids. There is also a guild system where you can form or join a group of players. Many of these guilds specialize in either PvE or PvP and you can find a guild to suit your playstyle.
Though the game is free to play, there is no pay to win that you may see in other places. Many of the items that you can pay for are cosmetic or their effect on the game is not one that will be too overpowered or break it. The real money shop is built into the game and you buy eCoins from the website and then spend them directly in the store.
One of the downsides to the game however is the world you play in. Each leveling area is divided into a map with its own story and quests. At the end of the map is a dungeon that you have to complete. You can only move on once that dungeon is complete, while in the early game this is simple, later on it gets a bit harder to complete them or make any bonus experience to help level your character. Because of this progress can feel quite slow.
Despite that there is a lot of fun to be found in the rest of the gameplay. The quest system is interesting and the story is engaging. Though it can get a little confusing at times the end result is worth it. Put the blend of games together with a lot of the little things all working in sync and suddenly you have a pretty good game.
While Cabal 2 is an MMO, it seems to have a small playerbase, this is a real shame as it is a beautiful game to play with a lot going for it. There are guilds and players but the world can feel a bit empty if you are used to this style of game. Outside on the web there are Facebook and forum pages but once again, it is a smaller community than you would think.
Simply put Cabal 2 is amazing. It is a beautiful game that creates a stunning world. There is so much effort put into the design aspects and the look of the game it is a shame that more people do not see it. The game is a little old now and it shows when compared to some. Despite that it is still one of the best looking MMO’s we have seen. The characters are flawless and the personalization options are vast, especially at creation. A stylish finish just compliments the look so well.
There are a lot of great features in this game, and the look is amazing. But there is a reason that the community is a smaller one. The leveling takes too long and there is a bit of a lack of content. But if you can get past these Cabal 2 is really worth a look. For a free game there is actually a lot you can do and there is no pay to win here. Put that together and actually there is a game worth playing. If you want a break from the browser style games this is a great place to start.
