This South America Pack DLC is probably one of the most anticipated DLCs mainly because South America is where the famous Amazon rainforest is located in. In fact, I venture as far as to say that the Amazon rainforest serves part of the inspiration for the huge variety of foliage, trees and other flora that will basically let you create your own Amazon rainforest-themed zoo. After all, the Amazon rainforest contains the largest diversity of both plants and animals in the world and it is only right for a DLC featuring the South American continent to reflect this.
This DLC comes with more than 250 scenery pieces that also include impressive architectural structures that are most definitely based on the more famous ingenious tribes of the Amazon of the past. This includes the cool Aztec temple that can work as a breathtaking prop in your zoo. Not to mention, you have the pieces to also recreate an architecture that seems to be inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, which is actually located in the middle east but is a fantastic feat of architecture nonetheless.
I daresay that a huge chunk of the player base in Planet Zoo plays the game just for the adorable animals. For those players, this DLC is a pretty good deal. It comes with five unique animals native to the hot and humid jungles of the South American continent, including Jaguar, Llama, Capuchin Monkey, Giant Anteater, and the Red-Eyed Tree Frog. Of course, each of these new animals will come with their own requirements and you’d be wise to fulfill them all to keep welfare high in your zoo. After all, you wouldn’t want to give the protesters any reason to come into your zoo and drive away your visitors.
The DLC would be a great deal if you are planning on designing and building a jungle adventure of your own, plus, you’d have 5 new cool animals to add to your new zoo. That being said, personally, I’m not the sort of who would spend an insane amount of time in Sandbox mode, designing and building my own zoo from scratch. This is because unlike the previous Arctic Pack Premium DLC, this DLC doesn’t contain any new scenarios for you to play. This is quite unfortunate though. It would have been great to be able to marvel at what the Frontier team is able to come up with using the new box of scenery pieces that they have made available for us.
Regardless, this DLC is worth the asking price for the creative players who are just itching to get started on realizing their South American-themed zoo. Now, all we need are the adorable animals and deadly insects from the land down under and we’ll be just about set!
