WWGDB Celebrates 1000 UsersJul 19, 2016 | 1 Votes by Aethyna 10 rate That’s it! We’re pulling out all the stops for this major milestone celebration – bring out all the fireworks and let’s light up tonight’s sky like it’s the 4th of July! Free virtual drinks and snacks are included as usual of course, so come and celebrate this amazing moment with us!
It has been almost 2 years since we’ve started WWGDB, and today, we mark the moment where we surpassed our first major “number of users” milestone. It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come and honestly, we are glad that you are here along with us on this amazing journey. It’s always best to travel with friends that you know you can count on, ain’t that right?
Back then, WWGDB was naught but a concept... an idea that was born out of our strong desire and even perhaps an innate need to compile and comprehensively review the best online games that we can find on the internet. We mainly deal with free-to-play games - the sort where players can simply dive in and enjoy – but we do cover other fantastic yet much underappreciated buy-to-play indie games like Wild Terra Online, Valhalla Hills and Zombie Hunter Inc. We are huge supporters of indie developers since we believe that every great thing in the world starts off as a small seed – a seed that’s bursting with potential. WWGDB was the same around 2 years ago and now look what it has become!
Unlike most game review sites that produce a review or 2 in a month while the rest of the site is flooded by press releases, we specialize in putting our backbone into the stuff that matters to you – the reviews and the articles. Of course, we tend to like to spice things up with some (but not too many) interesting updates from games that we know you love and would like to know more about. We even throw in some surveys and shine some light on interesting Kickstarter campaigns now and then.
Not to mention, our database of comprehensive game reviews is all very orderly organized with the help of accurate game metadata – metadata that you can then use to find the games you love. For instance, if you’re feeling like playing some RPGs today, simply pick the “RPG” label from the dropdown menu named “Genre”, and you’re all set for a fun day (or night) of slaying monsters, leveling up and raiding dungeons or instances with your new friends. It’s just that simple!
Over the months, we’ve also received plenty of feedback from you guys and ladies, including amazing user reviews from passionate players. If you happen to come across a game that you love and think it deserves a place among the greats on WWGDB, please don’t hesitate to send us an email via the Contact Us form and let us know. We are only human and sometimes, we might just miss out on some amazing yet relatively less known games out there.
That being said, if you’ve one of the many who have been with us since early this year, you might be pretty familiar with the content this sort of celebratory articles contain as WWGDB has been cutting through milestones like they’re butter. So, let me cut to the chase and bring you the main highlights of this article – the current and future updates!
As you may have noticed, we’ve recruited a new part-time writer – Welcome, Kim! – to the WWGDB team. She has been writing some impressive reviews, like Avakin Life and Farm Days, to name a few of the more recent ones. If you’re interested to read more of her work, be sure to check out our list of recent games. We’ve also brought on another part-time writer, Jose, who’s an expert in everything “shooter”-related. He mainly writes articles for us, so if you’ve spotted any shooter-related articles that we’ve published recently, well, chances are those articles are written by him. These introductions are pretty much long-overdue due to the pretty recent decision to keep celebratory articles to a minimum... just enough to cover all the major milestones.
We may also be bringing on another writer in the near future as well. He – yes, our new writer is a “he” – is a very experienced gamer and game content writer with a penchant for strategy, RPGs, sports and fighting games, and a love for eSports, particularly DotA2. Hopefully, with his help, we’ll be able to cover more MMO games as well as sports-related games.
Another exciting news is that we’ll be sending someone (winks!) to attend China’s biggest games convention, ChinaJoy 2016, that is going to be held in Shanghai next week. Due to this, you can definitely expect some exciting sneak peeks and first looks for a variety of highly anticipated games produced and/or published by triple A companies with the likes of Ubisoft, Blizzard Entertainment, Youzu/GTArcade, Proficient City, EA Games and more. So, be sure to stay tuned for more updates from the event!
Last but not least, it is obvious that we couldn’t have reached this milestone without you all and due to this, we have decided to organize a small giveaway event. So, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the event because it is coming soon!
The achievement WWGDB has attained today is something we all have played a critical role in. Without your support, there will be no “us” as we now know it. WWGDB is as much our “blood, sweat and tears” as it is yours... though, you all got the easier yet equally crucial part – the part where you recommend your favorite review site – that’s us! – to your friends, family or even to that random stranger playing Pokémon Go while walking down the street. Thus, from the deepest recesses of our already games-filled heart, we would like to thank you for being with us and we hope you’ll continue to stick with us for the years to come!
